Wiper Problem

Hi All,

Today, my wipers have suddenly decided that they don't want to work. Absolutely zilch, which on a day when there is intermittent rain , is a pain in the bumper.

No amount of switching on off, change of controls, checking of fuses and relays for obvious damage etc. sorts it. Set off to destination - after 10 minutes, wipers come on with no switching. (No, it's not set on Automatic) They sweep twice, then stop. After about 2 minutes, they sweep three times and then stop. The manual control (i.e down from the rest position) then works, nothing else does. The washer works but with no wipe.

Anybody got any ideas ? And why do they always come up with problems on a bank holiday weekend !!!!

All suggestions gratefully received.

Yes, I've tried that as well on the advice of a neighbour, who's had a similar problem with a VW. Also checked the fuseboard under the bonnet.

Only had two issues with Skoda's and wipers and both down to water and electrics not mixing to well.

Front wipers on my old Rapid 136 stopped working in a snow blizzard; water got into the motor contacts but being and old proper Skoda easily fixed on the side of the road. The other my son's Fabia I, where likewise the rear wiper developed a mind of it's own. This was down to water from the wash wipe system getting into the motor; new motor fixed that.

Hope you get it sorted,

TP

Well, there's a smattering of doom & gloom. Just as well it's under warranty for a bit longer - but disappointing,as my previous Skoads ( 2 Octavias) have been pretty reliable, and this is the third fault in two years.
