Bulbs. LED me up right nice.

Featured Replies

Right.

I'm a bit confused. I've been through the threads trying figure out what bulbs would be of benefit to me as an upgrade to a Fabia Classic. But I'm lost.

What bulbs have people installed and found to be of good quality for-

Headlights - no tints etc. Is the upgrade kit worth it to HID?

Sidelights.

Number plate.

Thanks in advance!!!

So I found Powerbulbs and figured Thst's I need high beam and dipped? Is that 2 bulbs or one combination? H3 or H7??

I'm pretty sure led headlights are illegal. At least they are in ever EU country I know of. I doubt the UK would be far behind.

You need H7 bulbs. At least that's what I pulled out of my Fabia

Not sure about that as the Toyota Prius and Merc CLS both have LED headlights as factory options and i've seen a couple of both models with them on the road. They make the factory fit xenons on our two cars look like halogens!!!

Cheers

Led headlights share the same rules as xenons, headlight washers needed. Although i have both xenons and led side lights but havent fitted the washer system yet as i cant find one.

Do any LED bulbs throw up warning lights on the dash?

For number plates, side lights etc.

That's what's stopping me hitting the BUY bottom!

I'd be interested to see which ones you are looking at - most LED bulbs I have seen for sale for use for headlight replacement are simply not able to illuminate the road infront and are plain right dangerous . None I have seen as an aftermarket replacement come anywhere close to filament /xenon bulbs. Aftermarket LED bulbs are fine for foglights or for show use, but no good for the road.

Sidelights won't throw up an error, main / dipped / will.

This has had me confused for a long time aswell, scared to buy anything incase they're wrong :peek:

Don't be afraid - use Google!

Sidelight = T10 / W5W / 501. All the same fitting, just different names.

Main = H3

Dipped = H7

Front Fog = H3

IMO, LED's are only suitable for Sidelight & fog. Better off getting uprated bulbs for Main / Dipped.

And to answer the original question, I run Osram Night Breakers in Main / Dipped - very good bulbs. Led sidelights, standard foglight bulb (for now). Phillips silvervison type bulbs in all indicators, all LED's internally (except for boot & glovebox) and superskoda mega bright white leds in door.

I'm happy, but will go back to Foglight leds in due course too.

Silvervision indicators are the first mod i've done on every car i've had in years. :) My Lex is also LED'd up... Sidelights, numberplate lights, sunvisor lights, front map reading light, main interior light (24LED panel) and boot light (12LED panel). Very impressed with the panel LEDs as they give out two or three times more light out than the standard bulbs they replaced.

Had to take the boot to bits to fit the numberplate lights!!!!! No point in changing the foglights on it as the projector lenses on them are yellowed at the factory so they wouldn't be any whiter etc....

Cheers

Don't suppose you got a pic of them on your car at night? Interested to see the difference, and how better they look.

They look normal colours, just brighter. The LED sidelight gives it a bit of a bluish / interesting tinge.
