My Fabia's PS

Featured Replies

OK, here's my question, I have a Fabi 1.9TDi 100hp, but it goes like it has more. I've read on here that they lose power @4000rpm, but mine goes on until nearly 5, almost the start of the redline. I bought it used at 65K with full service history in Poole, but it was originally from Alex Lawrie's in Liverpool. Could it have been re-mapped without my knowledge, and how could I find out?

Logging boost on VCDS will give a clue. Stock should be around 1.1 bar from memory, so VCDS will read about 2100 max. If you see it peak at around 2350 to 2400, then you know its been mapped as boost is higher. :)

You could put it on a rolling road and see what power it's putting out, or one of the tuners could probably check to see if it's been mapped.

And how do I do that?!

Thanks JulieD :)

If you fancy a roadtrip along the south coast, I'd do it for you. :D

basically, with VCDS, engine section 01, measuring blocks, select group 11 I think it it, where specified and actual boost are measured. Go for a drive, a passionate drive. ;)

a ROADTRIP!? That would mean having to drive it, for some time.

I hear the A35 is a nice road when its quiet. ;)

My friendly dealer :)

As Jason says vcds is your best bet if you can get access. Log channels 1, 8 and 11. Post the results and I'll be able to tell you if it's mapped.

it's going into Abtech, Totton on tuesday for cam belt, water pump and brake fluid change. I'll ask them if they have the means to tell me , thanks.

I heard that too:))

It could just "feel" quicker than it is, like most dervs.

apparently JKM in Portsmouth can do a power run on their rolling road for 60 quid all-in, so I might take it there:)

just noticed there's a roling road meet at the very same place in may for 35 quid! Going to book it in

well, my gut feeling was confirmed, took it to JKM's RR on sat and it peaked at 125.7HP, happy days! They said with a stage 1 re-map, I could get about 170

170bhp, sounds a bit high, I would say between 145-155bhp at most.

Mines running a stage 1 remap from Shark and even that made 148bhp

don't rain on my parade :giggle: well, they said the re-map would give me another 45 on top of what it was putting out, not sure when I can even afford it atm  Have to wait n see I suppose:)

Not got much knowledge about the little 100`s but a PD130 will run a genuine & safe 170bhp so i`d be surprised if the smaller turbo could do the same! More likely, they give a 45bhp increase on the stock figures, which will still make it a nippy little motor

Yeah, if its feeling good now with 25 over stock another 20 will feel great! Before Beryl was mapped she was putting out 181 on 95 Ron fuel, I switched to VMAX (to make her run smoother when cold) & the extra 5 bhp was quite noticeable.
