Retrofit OE rear OPS parking sensors bench-test?

Featured Replies

Hi just got this OE kit for retrofitting the OPS rear parking sensors.

So before trying to fit it I thought I would bench-test to check if working. Laid out on kichen table and connected sensors to harness, with speaker attached all to control module and applied 12 volts to the Black and Brown wires. Expected the buzzer to make noise but nothing. Thought buzzer was faulty so put voltage to buzzer directly and still nothing. Today I borrowed a friends Roomster which has rear parking sensor and quickly tried my buzzer in it and it works fine.

Does it have to be connected to CAN gateway via the two orange wires for it to work and is there anyway of testing before actaully fitting to car?

Hope someone can help, thanks.

Can't confirm but my guess would be that it needs to be connected to CAN to work, VW stuff very often does.

It's not a buzzer its actually a speaker. Hence I couldn't fit oem speaker buzzer to aftermarket kit.

I recently fitted some Cobra sensors (the same as many dealers use on a retro-fit) to a Sharan, non of the sensors would 'work' until the calibration wire was cut.

Once fitted and calibrated they all worked perfectly.

I cannot see a spare wire that could be cut for calibration. Maybe the OE ones don't use one?

If that's the case then I guess I'll have to wait till it's all connected up. But I won't drill any holes in bumper till I know it works.

Was hoping it was possible to check without connecting to CAN.
