Trading in the Yeti...

...for another one! Specifically a 140TDI 4x4 Elegance DSG, in Candy White/Onyx with Soundsystem, TPM, FPS, HFS, Annapurnas, spare wheel and mats. We're also quietly hoping that DAB might become an option for MY13.

The catalyst was a rather rubbish holiday in the US, with me going down with a stomach bug and Ruth injuring her left foot. Having previously hated automatics generally and in particular my XF, a few days of driving me about in our rented Mazda 6 (which is about as big as the XF in US spec) convinced her that perhaps they are not so bad after all - especially in the stop-start traffic which often afflicts her daily commute.

To our surprise, Chris Turvey at Fish Bros in Swindon was actually running a Yeti DSG diesel himself, so after a brief drive we decided to take the plunge - and also take the option to add the heated front screen (not available when we bought ours) plus the Soundsystem - and the now-standard folding mirrors will also be handy. Chris's young colleague was convinced that the folding mirrors were only operable with the interior switch - and was suitably red faced when Ruth (with the benefit of some prior internet research) demonstrated how to fold them using the keyfob!

Impressions of the DSG - very smooth in normal operation, slightly sluggish responses compared to the XF (but then that has an extra 100PS and 180Nm to play with!) but willing enough without excessive revving. It did occasionally seem a bit reluctant to change down, but no doubt after a few miles we will get used to how it responds. One thing I will have to get used to is the manual handbrake - the XF has an EPB wihich automatically releases when you accelerate, so it is very little effort to engage it to avoid dazzling anyone behind you with your brake lights.

So, now we just have 6 months or so to work out where to take it when it arrives!

Mark

Our Yeti has automatic hill hold - I thought all Yetis have it. 2 seconds of brake delay on a hill of >=3%. I love that it can do that and still have a proper handbrake, compared to Tiguan with only electronic parking brake - don't trust electronics to be reliable.

Congrats on the order Mark and I hope your both now fully recovered.

Regards,

TP

The TDi DSG is a great combo.

You will enjoy. The DSG will adapt to your driving style. Only covered 21,000 miles in mine.

Good choice - almost the same as mine. I hope you only have to wait the 6 months - I'm still waiting after 11 months!

I feel your pain mate! I ordered mine 23 May 2011 and I'm still waiting. Quoted (roughly) June build and July delivery.

Did you get yours through a broker too?

We signed for our Yeti replacement today.

Our 170 Elegance is being traded for a new Greenline Elegance in Rosso Brunello with Gobi leather and wood effect trim.

We'll be swapping over the spare wheel on arrival, which so far is being suggested as july.......No I don't believe that either...

I ordered mine on 30 March and the Build Week was given as 30, but the chap at the dealer said to expect it perhaps in September. I've just seen a 170 Elegance with sunroof for sale on AutoTrader . . .

Yes - UK Car Discount. I have been onto Skoda UK to Robert Hazelwood, who past it onto Mark Fox. He has been trying to locate my car, but says without a build number he won't be able to find out what has happened. UK Car Discount, say they don't get "SLI numbers" (build numbers) because they are "Fleet Buyers" and Skoda UK don't identify individual cars to them - they say they are trying to establish where the Yeti is or even it has been built! It was suposedly built on 20 February 2012 and delivery mid/end March...

Your June/July sounds worse than mine - who did you order through?

Ordered via Autofinders. To be fair, I've had the opportunity to walk away from the deal several times but I don't fancy placing a fresh order with someone else to wait another 9 months. They've been ok though, and when pressed have given me up to date information.

Sick of waiting - but I'm sure it'll be worth it....

Steve

That's some wait! Pretty much why I bought the demonstrator off the forecourt even tho it wasn't quite what we wanted. Compared to waiting 9 months or getting something else tho, it was the right decision. Hope you all get good news soon on deliveries!

I had a look at both providers mentioned and for reasons I can't define, I didn't go with them--I just didn't feel right spending all that money with someone I had never met and didn't know.

That being said, I did buy through DTD, At least with them, you are dealing with a Skoda dealer. All they do is negotiate the discounts for you in advance.

I have my car now--5 month wait--and I am very pleased with the deal, which ultimately wasn't the cheapest probably, but for me struck the right balance of cost against reliability. I did go and pick the car up though instead of getting it delivered--I didn't fancy sorting out a problem with the car, if there was one, on my doorstep. They are not that far from me in any event.

Hayselden Skoda were very helpful and friendly.

Latest update on our order - expected build week 28! Sounds a bit optimistic but maybe they've been ramping up production as promised. We'll see if they stick to it.

Interesting. If your order went in shortly before your first post (14 April) it looks as if you are now looking at <3 month total delivery. Well done, you! Our order went in at the beginning of April (also 140 4x4 DSG) but we've been offered no dates yet other than the original '6-7 months'.

Lucky chap!

I ordered on 30 March and was told last week that it was Build Week 34, but "it might come forward . . ."

Chris

Ordered mine on 24 January, spoke to skoda dealer yesterday to see what the build date was, but was told that the factory recognised the order on 2nd of feb, but cannot give me a build date at the moment because the computer is changing over the cars to my13. Is this b/s ? I don't mind waiting 6/7 months , but 1 year would really hack me off.

I've now been given an estimated build date of September 2012 (Week 39). Given I placed my order back in May 2011, I'll have been waiting over 16 months by the time the thing arrives.

Incidentally, for anyone ordering now, I spoke with Drive The Deal yesterday and they are quoting a 2013 delivery for a 170 Elegance. Most of their dealers are quoting 12 months plus.

Bloody ridiculous Skoda, get yer acts together....

Is your order through a broker? I can't see the incentive for dealers to give away their allocation to a broker when they can sell all they can get through the forecourt. Are dealers themselves quoting 12 months delivery?

And, of course, one of the reasons that Yeti residuals are so good is the lack of supply - great for us but obviously not much help if you are waiting for your first Yeti.

Good choice. I picked up my ex demo Yeti 2.0 TDI 4x4 DSG last Saturday.

Really great car, good to drive, 43 mpg and that DSG box is fantastic - good choice.

It must be holiday time here in Pembrokeshire, I saw a grey Yeti and a white one today. White is great but gets dirty quickly in my country lanes.

My silver Yeti seems to hide the dirt a bit better.

I'd be seriously cross if the delivery date went back beyond September, for whatever reason. But changing to MY13 might bring benefits . . .
