Vibration in 1

Featured Replies

Morning all,

I had a new Clutch and DMF fitted at a reputable clutch centre 2 weeks ago. When I picked the car up the mechanic advised me there was a “little vibration” from the clutch, and this was normal as it needed breaking in. I have used the car for nearly 500 miles and the vibration hasn’t changed much. The vibration starts when the clutch is at biting point in first, sometimes happens when engaging clutch at low speed (10MPH) in second. Once I am moving (10MPH +) the vibration stops and the clutch and DMF seem fine. It’s not a loud harsh vibration however it is still very noticeable. When asking other people they all say this is not right, what do you think?

My car is a 2006 Fabia VRS 6 Speed BLT.

Clutch vibration can occur when you get a new clutch installed. If it is only slight it may well ease off as the clutch beds in. 500 miles ain't particularly far on a new clutch TBH, but there is also every chance that it will not go away at all.

I would either be going back to where it was fitted or getting a second opinion from a clutch specialist.

I replaced mine with a SMF and new clutch, I got some Hellish vibration for the first few hundred miles but soon settled down, ( I know I'll get more vibration anyway with the smf)

You always get chatter with an uprated SMF but not so much with a standard OEM DMF and clutch replacement. All depends how bad it is. If you ain't happy get it looked at. Otherwise just see if it lessens as it beds in.
