Mudflaps And Door Sill Covers - Fabia Sport

Featured Replies

I am thinking of buying mudflaps and door sill covers for my 2009 Fabia Sport.

Does anyone know if:

The genuine Skoda mudflaps fit the sport model? (they state not for VRS or Monte Carlo but no mention of Sport)

The genuine Skoda black plastic door sill covers require any sort of separate fitting kit as one site I have found them say they do but there is no mention of this on any other site?

And if anyone has any pictures of a Fabia Sport with mudflaps on that they could send me/ link me to, I would be very grateful - just to make up my mind on whether to get them or not.

Thanks

i have a 2008 fabia sport and can say mud flaps fit fine about £42 i think for a full set also had a vrs and the mud flaps are the same 100%

Yes mudflaps fit and door silll covers come with double sided tape ready fitted. I just marked the sill where it fitted best (with pencil) clean sill with degreaser warm with hairdryer peel a bit of tape off so you can hold it while you lay the sill cover on the sill then peel away tape from underneath. do not wash car for 72 hours. Done

Thanks for the replies, think I'm going to order both :)

Just another quick question; how do the mudflaps fix to the car and are they easy to fit them?

Thanks again (and nice car btw :) )

Very easy to fit they line up with the torx screws that hold the wheel arch plastic. The front wheels turn left and right to put them on. The back take wheel off. They come with instructions. Not got car any more I had a year before got this one. VRS next

Not difficult to install indeed. Only the ones which you will install to the back wheels are a bit of a pain since the wheels cannot turn but you will be fine with some persistence.

There is no need to heat anything as the sill protectors are just stuck on with peel off sticky back sticky strips.

Isn't the heating to improve adhesion? Heat + sticky = more sticky to start with before it 'cures'.

Doesn't need heating. Just clean the area really well and the sticky tape will do the rest. It is very strong! And at the end of the day they are door sills, not a spoiler.

Depends on the type of adhesive used, unless the product specifically says it needs heating don't bother. If you live in a very cold climate things might be different as some adhesives don't cure very well in low temperatures.

These parts aren't load bearing part or aerodynamic so the glue won't be be a high bond agent, it'll be fine in most climates.

It looks like Skoda have used the same sticky-back peel off (3M I think) as the side strips. They are hiden under the doors most of the time so be fine.

The tape used is the same as the black door protecters with these it tells you to warm the area. Warming the area helps the adhesive bond better. And if you warm the plastic sill covers they will form the shape of the sill better.

Hi J93,

I think most have covered the points, but here are a few pictures to settle your mind if you havnt ordered the mud flaps already...

Fistly it is a lot esier to take the wheels off to attach the flaps.

Just 3 screws to attach them.

Clean the car first is a good idea, haha.

The Top of the flap has a small guide, which needs to be clicpped behind the body work, Difficult to do with gloves, we used a small jewlers screw driver to push the plastic back. (Ii didnt use any glue or sticky suff. anywhere)

The rears are pretty simple as well, there is a large lip in the body work/Shell. so its pretty simple to fit the flap as it is shaped to fit.

Thanks for the photos.

There is no need to take the wheels off. may need L shaped screw driver.

Popped into Bickertons and ordered a set of black sill covers (KDA700001). Just shy of 27 quid. I pick them up Tuesday.
