Does changing brake fluid also change clutch fluid?

Featured Replies

In cold weather my clutch biting point sometimes gets too low and I need to lift the pedal back up with my foot. From searching on here it seems this could be because the clutch needs bleeding?

As my car is (over)due a brake fluid change I've just booked it in to Skoda for this to be done next week. Am I right that as the brake and clutch share the same reservoir the clutch will be bleed as part of the brake fluid change?

Yep

Only if the mech bleeds it.

Why dont you just get an Eezybleed kit from Screwfix for £15 and do it your self?

just use the spare wheel at 18psi, then jack up each corner to do? would take 1hr to do fully, just put plenty thru each calliper.

I am not the best to chat to about sending car in to a mech tho as in my exp they are all ****e! I dont trus anyone to do a job right. hence why I do it myself.

Also its cheaper lol

just tell them you want the clutch bleeding too.

I always recommend keeping the pressure below 1 bar to prevent possible ABS problems

IIRC correctly the Eezibleed instructions state this too.

There is a bleed valve on top of the clutch slave cylilnder. With an Eezibleed it really is quite straightforward.

is says 20psi max

If doing the hole system I flattened 1 wheel and had to use another at 18psi. Mind I did go over the top to make sure all air was out and now OMG the brakes are much beter on the fabia, took a while to get the Brembos on the Octy too.

how do you bleed the clutch?

Thanks guys. Skoda are going to charge me £52 to change the fluid. That to me is worth it to avoid the hassle of having to buy tools and do it myself.

Hassle bleeding a clutch? One slave system you must be out of your mind to pay 52 quid.

£52 will get you shed loads of fluid and the tools to do it,

10mm and 11mm spanners are all tahts needed.

Takes 1 hour max to do.

Despite the best efforts of Mr Haynes. In the Haynes manual I have it says access to the bleed nipple for the clutch is best from below but then has a picture of it taken from above, which confused me no end.
