2.0 TSI Recall MY2012

Featured Replies

Hey,

I had car booked in for some remedial work (steering wheel not on straight!). They told me when I got there that there was a recall for the power steering control unit on the car. It's a Week 5 2012 tsi vrs. No idea if it affects others though.

Is this for a octavia? im confused as you sig says you have a fabia & a octy vrs diesel.

Yup, sig is wrong, those were my last 2...I've been through far too many Skodas; I think I have a problem!

So they couldn't upload the new software to the car for the recall and are awaiting assistance from Skoda on the issue. Nor did they fix the steering wheel alignment (apparently the new software will alter the camber of the wheels, so there's no point  ). Nor did they manage to locate the turbo actuator rattle I told them about.

They want the car back to try again. :wall:

Software changing the camber.... Cool..... Where do they get it from - translated - couldn't be bothered to do it nor tell a good lie

phsroberts, they're taking the p*$s. Steering wheel offset is due to alignment problems. Skoda are unlikely to be able to solve this as they don't often have the necessary equipment. Give them the opportunity to solve it, then go to a four wheel alignment specialist and bill Skoda afterwards.

Regarding the rattle, this is a well known problem and they're fobbing you off again. There's a TPI reference for this fix. See "New TSI Rattling Noise" thread on page 1 of the forum. I've posted the TPI number in this thread and you should quote it to your dealer.

Good luck!

Changing the camber, I've just heard the first cookoo of spring. A software download cannot make a physical change to the mechanical set up of the car as you need a spanner to do that!

Yeah and the guy is a spanner for suggesting it can be done by software.

Yup, I was amused by that one...even more so when the techie told me again while I demonstrated the 'non existent' rattle.

They get one more chance before being binned!

Has anyone got the money back from skoda for a 3rd party wheel alignment? Would it be skoda or the dealer I talk to?

Cheers!
