Skoda Octavia 1.6 MPI Left side doors and power windows after Battery replace

Featured Replies

Hi;

Just got my Skoda Octavia 1.6 MPI back from dealer. It was due for full service, timing belt change and battery replacement (which went flat). I checked most of the things before leaving the dealer (60 Kms drive) and looked fine. Engine is more responsive and feels better handling as well.

But when i came back home, found that my both left doors are not locking and both left power windows also not operating :(

I called the dealer and he wants me to drive back again :( 160 kms ....

Is this be just a fuse problem, which i can fix myself or will it be any major issue (again), everything else works fine after the new battery replace.

Please advise.

Probably the computer needs 're-booted'. I had this after the tow-bar fitter made a bit of a ham of the CAN electrics. One side of the car 'dead' electrically.

It was a Sunday, no where to go to get the errors cleared.

I left the battery disconnected for 2hrs 30m (just over 2hrs is important, any less and the reset doesn't happen and the clock starts ticking again).

Reconnected and all worked as it should. Went to get the car re-coded at my convenience and the error codes still needed cleared but everything worked in the interim.

Worth a shot over a long and expensive drive!?

Thx Niall for your quick response. I will give a try by disconnecting battery for more than 2:30 hrs and let you know.

It worked like a charm !! I disconnected the battery for 3 hours (as advised by Niall) and my car's left side is now electrically sound.

Thx a million Niall :love:
