My Poor VRS Is Poorly

Featured Replies

When I first start the car and set off, first time on boost not hard just a steady set off I get a squeal exactly like the sound you would get on a supercharger when the belt slip, Apprently the Aux belt looks ok. it does it a couple of times then wont do it any more till the car has been stood for a while.

Could it be the belt getting wet (leak, condensation) then after a while it dries and doesnt happen until its stood again. Had this on other cars.

Aux Belt?? It could be, when that slip dont the battery light show?

Yes the aux belt. I wouldnt think the battery light would come on if it was slipping slightly to make the squeal as its its probably only slipping momentarily. Not definateley the problem but its worth checking.

Does it happen if you rev the car while its standing.

Aux belts are cheap and while i've not changed one on a vrs it took longer to get my tools out and put them away than to do the job on the mpi.

I had that supercharge noise and it ended up been turbo mate

Yeah, poors out black smoke when booted, but that's cos of map

"First time on boost" - Hmmm, as you admit to having a smokey map, I would reckon the car is probably overfuelling, and the turbo is likely to be on the way out. I know its a long way to drive with a potentially dead car, but tomorrow night I am staying just east of Leicester if you want VCDS plugged in.
