Featured Replies

Hello Fellow Yeti owners

I am puzzled by the Bolero set I have in my Yeti.

In the setup menu there is an option ACTIVATE BLUETOOTH AUDIO CONNECTION.I ticked the activation and nothing happens. Will not detect my Iphone 4.

what is this good for?

can i hear music from my iPHONE 4 ?

Please help me clear my confusion. Thanks

Have you got the bluetooth turned on at the iPhone?

Have you started playing music on your iPhone? IIRC that's what it takes to make my Bolero stream music from my Android phone: enable it on the Bolero, let the phone connect then just start playing music on the phone and it comes out of the car speakers. You can't control the playback from the Bolero, it just streams what the phone is playing.

You might need to do something on the iPhone to get it to stream the music on Bluetooth rather than through its speaker on headphones. I cant comment on that as I am too poor to own an iPhone :'(

Edit: You have paired the phone with the bluetooth unit in the car, I presume? If not then you have to do that first.

Not sure about Israel spec but not all Yeti's have Bluetooth. It does NOT reside in the Bolero but is something that lives under the passenger seat. If you have a phone icon on the right of your steering wheel controls you have Bluetooth. If you have three arrows pointing in a circle you don't.

Having a menu only for AUDIO Bluetooth is peculiar as having full Bluetooth also means you can phone people, the phone book gets imported, etc. Audio streaming from the iPhone to the Bolero is but a small part of the Bluetooth functionality and yes you need to press play on the iPhone BEFORE clicking the BT Audio button on the Bolero.

Don't you need GSM III installed for streaming?

Very confusing as GSM II apparently works for hands free, this is all from current manual.

I gave SE plus on order which is Amundsen with GSM II.

When I got a demo car before I bought, it was an Elegance with BT. With no consulting the handbook I poked and prodded the buttons and very easily connected my iPhone 4 to the car and was streaming music from it within a minute. It was very intuitive.

OT - is it possible to play specific albums off the iPhone on the Bolero rather than 'first come, first played?'

You use the iPhone to control what's being played - the Bolero just puts what's being streamed to it out through the speakers.

This probably sounds stupid - but it fooled me. Have you got the 'media volume' turned up on the phone. I had this with a Superb and my Samsung, everything was playing yet no sound, it was only then that I turned up the media volume and hey presto 'MUSIC'!!

Not too sure about seperate albums, all my music is in a heap not neatly sorted, but as you can scroll through songs via the MFSW I cannot see why you can't scroll through albums.

Thanks for your response - can't believe it's that flipping simple! That's gonna make life a lot better if I can pick which album to play now.

I just hope I can remember for the next time I get into Yeti :giggle:

You need to activate your iPhone via the maxi-dot display before doing anything on the Bolero.

Once 'connected' you can then play your audio by selecting Media the BT audio on the bolero, and the funny little icon on the iPhone to tell it to stream the audio to the Skoda.

I hope this helps.

Pretty sure the Elegance comes with GSM II Bluetooth the same as the SE Plus, so I'm thinking Bluetooth streaming should work from my iPhone 4 to the Amunsden which also supports Bluetooth streaming?

1. Yes it is.

2. Yes it does.

3. Yes it does.

in answer to your 3 questions.......

That's good news for me, build date of week 20 so not long to go now.

Wiered, although not surprising, that the manual PDF's state GSM III for streaming audio.

They may have changed from GSM 2 to GSM3. My Elegance is GSM2.

There are various versions around and the early GSM 3 in Octavia & Superb were not compatible with the iPhone. I think the latest versions are. If they weren't they would be shooting themselves in the foot.

There is a specific section on Briskoda to ask these questions called ICE, Security and Insurance.

I'm sure I looked in ICE and Google but found little information anywhere, maybe I'll try a post later.

You'd think somewhere would list features of the GSM II module has, music streaming is a big feature but maybe the Skoda target market is deemed not interested, saying that can't find info when I tried VW instead.

Pretty sure GSM II is only option in UK, as I said manual says GSM III needed for music streaming.

manual says GSM III needed for music streaming.

Out of interest, which manual did you find that in?

(Doesn't the Superb have GSM III?)

I can BT stream no problem.

I'm not sure that it does, actually. I think this is one of those bits of the manual that can be misinterpreted. It says: "The universal telephone preinstallation GSM IIl makes it possible to play back music via Bluetooth". It doesn't say you can't do it with GSM II. But I think the actual problem is a bit more complicated than that.

Firstly, I think that it is a typo. AFAIK the Yeti doesn't have GSM III - every other mention of GSM in the manual refers to "the universal telephone preinstallation GSM II". It would be illogical to then start talking about GSM III without any explanation as to why (though I admit that the manual is not exactly a shining example of lucidity and logic anyway).

Secondly, if you look closely the third vertical bar in "GSM III" isn't the same as the first two. If you search in the PDF for "III" then it won't be found. If you copy the "III", paste it in to Word and change the font to Courier then it turns out that to be "II1" not "III". That again leads me to think that it's a typo of some kind. Maybe there was going to be a footnote and it was never added?

Thirdly, earlier PDF versions of the manual have exactly the same wording in that section except that they say "GSM II" where the later versions have "GSM IIl".

I'm convinced that the wording you reference is actually a mistake in the manual, which then creates the possibility for misinterpretation. Apart from the observations above, the main reason I'm convinced of that is because I regularly stream music via bluetooth to the Bolero in my GSM II-equipped Yeti!

(sorry for my lack of quotes, the iPhone site doesn't do this when clinking reply)

Anyway this looks good for me then as Amundsen supports streaming, although I think it's the Bluetooth module the does in fact, so the stereo is irrelevant.

Does the track title get displayed when streaming?

As do I regularly on my GSM II equipped Yeti.

Apparently the latest Yetis do show the title when they stream but alas my 2010 one does not show the title which is a pain...

Hmm..had to check this morning but nor does mine :|

Hardly irrelevant: it takes two to tango, so the bluetooth module has to support streaming and the head unit has to support the bluetooth module as an input device. Provided both those boxes are ticked then you should be good to go.

Hopefully I'm good then.

Anyone here got the Amundsen and GSM II that can confirm this combination works?

This is standard on the SE Plus trim.
