Coding Fiscon to RCD510DAB

Featured Replies

Chaps (and ...ettes), I've got an RCD510DAB in my 1Z, I've just put a Fiscon in, ticked the telephone prep in the CAN installation list and then gone into long coding in the Radio module (56) and am not able to change the coding to accept the telephone so it works on the touch screen. The kit works alright on Maxidot, makes calls, etc but I would like it to work on the head unit too as designed to.

The most recent scan shows:

Address 56: Radio (J0503) Labels: 5M0-035-1xx-56.clb

Part No SW: 3C8 035 195 G HW: 3C8 035 195 G

Component: Radio RCD510 050 0207

Revision: 00000001 Serial number: VWZ1Z3L1548569

Coding: 03000400040105

Shop #: WSC 12345 123 12345

VCID: 2C5D2B384F10163

The coding includes "No Soundsystem installed" or something like that (of the four options, I can pick from no soundsystem, Skoda Soundsystem, VW or Dynadio Soundsystem, Dynaudioa Soundsystem) but I can only chose No Soundsystem as all other options give me Error 31 out of range.

I have 3 fault codes, all open circuits on the antennas, as I have no 12v supply to the antenna at present. Could that be a cause?

Cheers

Hi guys can anybody give me a hand? Cheers

Do I assume right and you retrofitted that RCD510? Besides this being a VW unit, when retrofitting a RCD510 you have to make sure to get a proper/compatible one to start with. In opposite to the RNS510/Columbus the RCD510 cannot be switched between DDP and BAP. Older RCD510s are DDP (which would be correct for your 2007 Octavia) while newer ones are BAP (for 2009/2010 FL models)..

The FISCON unit and the rest of your car (cluster etc) can only communicate via DDP which means this RCD510 will always be the part which cannot properly communicate with the others...

Yes it's a retrofit as I wanted to add DAB and couldn't do it with any of the Skoda units and assume it is largely similar to the Bolero.

The RCD seems to function properly with Maxidot, as does the Fiscon. As far as I can tell the older RCDs are not DAB head units, in which case there is no point in having one as the Bolero would be a better choice and the Columbus the obvious choice for retrofit into a Skoda. I am still wondering if the BAP/DDP conflict would be the reason I can't code the RCD to accept the telephone prep, I am still able to make some VCDS changes to the head unit but not the one I need.

Wait for the end of the year and you'll get a Columbus with DAB... ;)

That's what I'm hoping for but expecting it to be £££ when it becomes available.

I have no issues with Maxidot displaying info from the head unit, would that effect what I could do with the long coding?

Also, why would other 3C0 head units have very different coding options (eg 10 digits, something like 010100001) to the coding I posted?

This isn't a coding issue as far as I understand it's the control module firmware/software.

But if there was a BAP/DDP conflict, I could expect there to be nothing display in Maxidot, right....?

What am I not understanding?

It turns out it's the control module hardware and I will go into more detail once it's sorted.
