Motorola TK30, Parrot MKi9200, or new head unit?

Featured Replies

As per title really, which one is best for iPhone 4s and general usability/reliability?

I just want to be able to play music from my iPhone, make/receive hands-free calls. Ideally I'd like to be able to do this from the same double DIN unit, such as this maybe:

but I know nothing about these things.

If I go for a Bluetooth unit I'm worried that once I've got the Sat Nav plugged in and a bluetooth kit, it'll be like sitting in the control room at Cape Canaveral - too many screens and wires.

So what's the answer folks? Any help appreciated

You could run a satnav package on your phone -that'll save a lot of clutter and the voice instructions will come through the car speakers if connected to a Parrot kit. I have the MKi 9100 -pretty much the same as the one you've been looking at but monochrome screen. The Parrot uses it's own amplifier rather than the one in the car stereo, it's not bad by any means but the sound quality is not as good as the factory stereo (Swing) in my Fabia -which I think is rather good. It may be possible to bi-pass this and use the amp in the stereo but I didn't install mine and I don't have enough know how. The Parrot also has a USB socket as well as an iPod/iPhone connector which will give you an additional source of power -I use my USB socket to power a DAB add on radio which lives in the glovebox.

Can't help with the Motorla.

Replacing the head unit will give you the tidiest solution but features and quality vary and then you need to protect yourself against theft.

good price but iwould go for a pioneer head unit

Thanks peeps. It's a minefield out there for this kind of stuff.

Another solution is an adapter out the back of the unit, enabling me to plug the iPhone in and keep the CD changer, but I keep reading stories about noise interference because they work off FM.

Do you have to declare a new head unit to the insurance company? I'm suspecting you do in case the car gets broken into and the new unit gets robbed :S

The head unit(s) I'm looking at are only £130-£150 so not even worth as much as the Symphony :(

Can anyone post pics of where they've put the Parrot screen and remote?
