Component speakers for Yeti

Featured Replies

I'm trying to find a 2-way component system (maybe from Focal, Rainbow, Ground Zero, Genesis...) to the Yeti's front doors. They need to fit to the original places, so any sign of retrofit is no option.

What is the woofer's max installation depth? Or which woofer you have successfully fitted in?

Where is the best place to mount the passive crossovers?

What is the tweeter's max installation width?

What kind of face does the tweeter need to have (e.g. does it need to have a collar as shown in this http://www.hifihit.c.../sax_265.20.jpg

Good luck getting anything to fit where the tweeters are they are pretty intergrated , the speaker is easy . I had to modify the door panel for my alpine 300w with the tweeter part and plate the rear of the speaker outwards with mdf but you will discover space is pretty limited behind your panels mate so best of luck , take a look at my pictures they may give some insight as to what you are about to discover

http://www.flickr.co.../in/photostream the alpine 300 Watt and crossover unit in the only place possible i could find

http://www.flickr.co.../in/photostream you can see what i done with the tweeters here as you can't use the original area

http://www.flickr.co.../in/photostream the first attempt with Inphase speakers which sounded poor in comparison to the Alpines

Oh just be satisfied with the sound you have, ffs

Oh just be satisfied with the sound you have, ffs

Err, a bit uncalled for imo... :wonder:

Id also be interested to know what after market speakers people have managed to get in there - it is pretty shallow and as has been said, the tweeter position is very limited in terms of useability for aftermarket tweeters. Id also go Alpine btw - always given me great results whenever Ive used them. :) Oh, and the MDF should help with killing some resonance from the speaker also - nice job. :)

I need seemingly to compromise the tweeter location. But first I'll use a blue sticker to clear how much room there is behind the cones.

An angled tweeter surface mounting either in the same place as Pete-n or then at small door triangle (on the other side of the side mirror). My crossovers need to adjust to some extent, so the latter option would make it possible to adjust and drive without the door panels. Furthermore the triangle is black, while my door panel is light so the black speaker would appear more clearly.

It is almost 20 years for the last time I competed carhifi building. Let's see what kind of resistance Yeti doors are in summer for me.

I did not like the sound and the crackling tweeters so I got rid of them and fitted some Inphase which were not man enough so then used Alpine SPR-17S 17cm 300 Watts Component Speakers in the front &

Alpine SPR-17C 300 Watts 2-way speakers in the back with the addition of a Jbl amp hidden under the passenger seat I now have no sound issues from the poor tweeters , it's so much better.

Hi Guys,

just got my Yeti, 2011 with the Bolero stereo...and like you, like to make some Audio performance improvements ( sound quality, not volume)

understand to to your thread here that the front system speakers are 6.5" ones...is that correct ?

if so been looking at these

http://www.focal.com...s/ft-ps1651.pdf

- these speaker have 65.5 mm ( 2.6") depth...will that fit ?

- do you think I need to add a more powerful external amplifier ?

- was also maybe thinking of adding a small active sub-woofer, and maybe change rear speakers as well ?

thanks in advance for all advice you can provide..

Personally I would consider upgrading to a 3-way setup, as Skoda fit with the "Sound System" upgrade. My mid-range add-ons did make an improvement, and the Sound System on our current car is better still. I would imagine a proper crossover helps too - the standard fit seems to consist of just a capacitor in series with the tweeter. See my thread below for the midrange fitting - we didn't change the existing speakers so can't help with that - sorry.

Thanks Mark,

Sorry, NOW I see (Mixed U up with Pete-n)...in the pictures you do add a mid-range dome speaker...I thought that add-on was a tweeter ( treble) into the door panel.

A 3-way setup is what I am looking for, however to be able to find a suitable system I need to know what can fit in the front door ( and maybe the rear doors).

I will use Pete-n Alpine speakers as a reference. IMO, "many moons ago" the depth of the woofer was in general the most difficult aspect retrofitting OEM Car Audio

Will tell U what I find.
