Clutch/flywheel fitting in Kent

Featured Replies

Does anyone know a reliable place (independent preferably) in Kent who could fit my new SMF and clutch to my 1.9d Octavia, preferably as reasonably priced as possible.

Cheers,

Andy

Just giving this thread a bump, because I really want some help locating a reliable garage/mechanic who can fit my SMF flywheel and clutch ASAP.

Cheers,

I am giving this yet another bump, because after phoning around, none of the local people seem happy to fit a SMF to my car, saying that it causes unwelcome vibration through the gearbox and clutch.

I have now had the car three weeks and it has been off the road for a week, and I am now starting to get really hacked off with the whole thing, and even now regret buying the car.

Just a quick update. One local garage has phoned back and said that they will fit the kit for £250 but will not provide a guarantee for the work - great, just what I don't need.

Andy. Give T S Automotive a call they are based in Tunbridge Wells. Speak to Bill and Jez and tell them Rob told you to call.

Cheers mate, I was getting really worried that nobody would reply to this, as I was starting to pull my hair out. I may just be able to drive to Tun Wells if I take it easy. Will give them a ring in an hour or two.

Just been back to them on the phone, and got it booked in for next Tuesday. They were not at all put off by doing the work (or using a kit supplied by me), and seemed straightforward in their approach, so cheers again, and keeping my fingers crossed for next week.

Thanks for that.

Just revived this thread to give an update.

I had the clutch/flywheel done on Tuesday by the guys at T S Automotive in Tunbridge Wells. The only problem with the kit (supplied by Darkside Developments@£393.00) was a broken release bearing - courtesy of Parcelforce, which caused a bit of a delay. Early days yet, but the guys at T S were very good IMO, very patient and their pricing seemed fair (I paid £291, which included the fitting of the clutch/flywheel, plus a new release bearing, 2 outer CV boots supplied and fitted, and a track rod arm).

Having driven it for around 100 miles, it seems to pull away smoother, and the gearchanges are becoming silky smooth. I suppose like any other mechanical item, the clutch will bed in after a while, but so far I am pleased.

Good news. Pleased it got sorted. They just fitted my S3 brakes for me. I much prefer having people who care what they are doing working on my car. Plus they're nice blokes too.
