Is it regular for these cars to make a very light tapping noise on idle? actually much like very gentle touching the symbol on a drumkit every second or is this abnormal.

Does anybody have a video on here of how a good one sounds when idling?

The CC sounds more liking a clicking sound if that helps and isn't in time with the engine, Injectors keep time with the rest of the engine

junked my CC and still have that ticking noise.

thanks guys, really helpful, however embarrassed to say I walked away from buying a car becuase I thought it was a problem with the tappets or something. Although pleased to say that wasn't the only reason I walked but at least i know now, just wanted to be safe and not sorry

If you want to check the CC, stick your finger on it whilst it clicking and you'll feel it, Like I say it should only come on when engine is warmed up

The 1.8T does tend to sound like a bag of spanners when idling but as said its not a problem. As long as its got good oil pressure to the top end its nothing to worry about

My Octavia 11' recently developed an engine ticking noise when warm and on idle, turned out to be a loose fuel line which needed to be repositioned... no more ticking now.

How do you get rid of the cc and whats its use! Mines ticks like fluff sounds well bad!

These cars make soo much racket what with that and the sai! Whoever invented all this crap wants punched straight in the nose

It filters the petrol fumes which is returning to the tank IIRC

I think some one ran without and it stank the car out with fumes

Oh right i see but it really does sound rediculous!! I thought the timing was out on mine and was a dud

I have got rid of mine,along with sai etc and I get no fumes in the car,where the pipe comes on the canister and goes onto another pipe beside the fuel pipes,I ran a hose off that down to the inner wing,never smelt any fumes.
