Felicia power steering track rod change

Featured Replies

I've bought a new power steering rack to replace my leaking unit on my diesel pickup. I was told a complete rack including track rods would be delivered but unfortunately there are no rods.

I've got two new track rods on order but looking through the Haynes manual ther's reference to a special to tool for changing track rods.

Has anyone had any experience doing this with or without the special skoda tool?

Thanks a lot.

Pete

Have a look in Tom's 1.8T conversion thread, he made a tool up to do that, may help you out...

Thanks djaychela. Looked through Tom's post and did the same - welded an old extension bar onto a brand new 32mm spanner (ouch) torqued up one of the new track rods, tried the other side to find that was slightly different (despite being in a similar box) and needed a 33mm spanner. 5 minutes on the bench grinder and that was done too.

Cheers,

Pete

Nice. Hope you don't need to do another 32mm one!
