2000' Felicia 1600 GLXI Oil Change

Featured Replies

I need some advice guys,

Im doing an oil change for above car, its done about 44k mainly used for short runs with occasional 28 mile run. I dont know what the last garage service used (main dealer, closed now).

1/ Can you recommend a suitable engine oil please.

2/ Am I right in that the oil filter is on the passenger side of sump and is horizontal?.

3 Do I need any special tools to undo it?, (I have got the large socket I use to undo the Octy oil filter).

Thanks

Hi, just a few quick thoughts on your points:

1) In the past I've used different oils. Previously mineral and now switched to a mid priced semi synthetic. I tend to use 15/40 but opinions do vary.

2) Mine is 1.6 and the filter is pretty much directly beneath and just to the left of the exhaust manifold on the front engine face (as you're looking at it). Can be swines to get off and I tend use the washing up type gloves for protection and much improved grip. Hopefully you won't have to resort to the screwdriver approach as it's really messy!

3) If like mine it has an hexagonal formed arrangement on the end, then you can work with that. If not then possibly a strap wrench or basically as above.

When you replace the sump plug you may also consider changing the associated washer.

Cheers.

Thanks for the info,

I shall investigate if the filter has a hex end, good point about washer on drain plug.

I think I will go with semi-synthetic oil as well.

Thanks
