Stage 1 remap figures

Featured Replies

Not BHP or torque, more interested in acceleration figures on a TFSI engine with a typical stage 1 remap (so 90-100 lb/ft torque increase) The most interesting benchmarks being 30-70 through the gears, and 0-100. Std car was autocar tested at 6.7 ish and 17.3 respectively IIRC, if nothing else, these make interesting comparison between different cars (for example a 535d outsprints an Impreza turbo in both of these). Am getting my vrs doctored on Saturday, it feels like having a tattoo when you're 40: you now its not really sensible for your age, but to hell with that! Must be a mid life crisis thing, though I have absolutely no ambition to make the car appear anything but standard; the whole Q car thing has a huge appeal to me.

40 to 100 in 4th in 9 seconds is the only timed acceleration I have done on my tsi vRS. That's only one second slower than a Revo stage 1 Golf R.

check youtube out, sure I saw a clip a while back with all the 0-60/30-70 etc from a stage 1 remapped  tfsi, best thing I ever did was get mine done.

Evo did a test on an Audi TT TFSi (197bhp model) with a remap and that gained some massive times on the standard one. They were amazed at the in gear performance and showed some serious bits of kit that were slower in the 30-70mph times.

The only complaint they had was with traction in 1st and 2nd, and when damp 3rd is a bit poor too.

Hmmm.oh **** it's forecast rain between Mansfield and Cardiff tomorrow.....

Never really timed it on mine but I can confirm that 60 - 100 on stage 2 is bloody awesome...........

Are you surprised that a 535d is quicker than an Impreza!!!! Imprezas are only good off the mark. Once rolling they arent especially quick at all especially the WRX in my experience. The STI's are more like it but not hugely quick. You need the special editions like the WR1 etc to have any decent performance in my experience, and even then they are great when on boost but if your in the wrong gear you have nothing. Not very flexible with the power delivery. My mates WR1 was only marginally quicker than my Octavia vRS once rolling accelerating through the gears despite the 50hp deficit between us(Me @ stage 2+, him with 330Hp), but if we did in gear runs like 50-70 in 4th gear mine mullered him everytime.

This might be of interest to you. The cars are slightly more powerful but it will give you a half decent gauge to compare with.

These times are from the EVO hot hatch mega test from a couple years back, on the same track with racelogic timing gear

Obviously a stage 1 car will not be able to compete there but a stage 2+ will definitely surprise you how close it gets upto around the 100mph region.

Interesting indeed. Am not *surprised* that the BM is quicker over that benchmark, it's just well interesting :) as in large diesel sitting room vs small 4wd hatch.

Doesn't the cupra have a larger turbo than the octy? Clearly a stage 1 isn't going to be quite like that, i'd expect it to shave 1 to 1.5s off the 0-100 time so around 16s which by most benchmarks is fast enough for the UK. I'm still not sure whether to go for big torque gains low down or linear power increase. I don't want to have to keep redlining it it get max power, but then neither do I want to overstress the bottom end and transmission with masses of torque. Then again, I presume the standard stage 1 shark remap is just that: a standard off the shelf programme, no tweaking involved.

I've got some figures from Drive mag a few years ago which included standard vRS. I'll dig them out.

The vRS (tfsi) has some respectable figures in standard guise and a Stage 1 vRS tsi is significantly quicker.

i.e standard map?

In which case, a manual *could be faster

* assuming that the slower manual shift offsets the torque limiting of the std DSG map

I was so impressed today with everything about Shark, I'm going to make a separate post, suffice to say it's f******* fast now (in my limited experience of driving performance cars)
