Fabia 2006 16V - Service indicator wrench only lights up at start without any more explanation

Featured Replies

I have helped my brother to buy a 2006 Fabia 16V automatic (he's not a very good driver, so the car fits him well since it's so incredibly boooring and easy to use...) and picked it up at the shop today. But when I turn the key, the service indicator (only the wrench and nothing more) lights up, before it dissappears after a little while. Any idea what this can be? Is it possible that this is normal and simply meant to show that the indicator works? In the manual there's nothing about the wrench alone, only whit "service soon", "oil" and all that.

Solved. Turns out that the last service was at a non-brand place, and they used regular oil instead of long life. Idiots! Strange that the car doesn't say "Oil" like my old 2000 Octavia, but I guess the point is that when anything out of the ordinary happens you should drive straight to your Skoda dealer. I really miss cars without all this electronics!
