Yeti manual gear knobs

Featured Replies

I haven't been enjoying the squared(ish) edges of the 6speed manual shift knob. Looking at superskoda, they show one that appears to have a different shape part no 5L0064230B. Does anyone have one of these and care to comment??

Strangely, if I google that part no, I can find Skoda's Nora parts system https://eshop.skoda-auto.cz/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?catalogId=10101&storeId=10001&categoryId=70000000196&langId=-1&parent_category_rn=70000000000&top_category=70000000000, which has all the available parts listed and has a different photo of that particular part number. I presume the skoda parts system is in error, because superskoda has a real photo of the part with packaging and part no.

Hi,

these 'dealer fit' optional accessories have been around since launch back in 2009. Think they were aimed at owners of lower end models with 'plastic' gearshifts and steering wheels who wanted an upgrade.

Don't know of anyone whose fitted them and there quite similar in design to the original 'chrome top' gearshifts that where replaced with the new 'black/chromed edged' type late in 2010.

Oh I believe the 4x4 6 speed is P/N 5L0064230A

Also look up the Russian vagcats web site for part numbers, although the number above is not listed in the gearshift section (might be in accessories :wonder: )

Mine looks similar to what I can look up on the Net about 5L0064230B, but it has a different top. [update]:

Skoda Nora lists several knob designs - all same part number except different suffix. Part number suffix B,C,D, and E are listed as "Sport" accessories. C says 5 sp, E says 6sp 4x4, B and D say 6sp. only B appears to have a different shape (photo on superskoda site).

(Looks like the Nora ecat system is how dealers order parts from skoda-auto.) my gearshift knob s the same as briskycat's. Looking to change it....

The different part numbers might be different parts assemblies judging from the diagram.

Hi all,

I disliked my gear knob too. I found it hard to hold and that my hand slid off it whereby I would hit the dashboard... So I replaced it with a MK6 Golf one.

How I did this;

Pulled off the old one

Found a cheapish VW knob online from Europe that I liked

When it arrived, I tested the height, which was low thus I made an extention of 20mm to give it extra height

Swapped the gaiters over and then I discovered the gaiter was to short so I had to order a custom one from the UK

Put it all together

Done!

Cheers.

I prefer a knob which you can place your thumb on top and grip with your fingers  ...so IMHO it feels good to me :notme:

Yep.  Each to his own and all that but I find nothing wrong with the stock gearshift knob, and plenty to like.  The shape works well with the gate pattern for me.  The squarish sides seem to help me find the correct forward and back paths - useful for block shifting on a six-speed.

I am 6'6" and I have really big hands so knuckling the dash was annoying. My partner has a similar shape square knob in her 4x4 and it actually is fine. Enjoy!
