Door lock spinning, central locking.

Featured Replies

Hi new to the site.

Bought a skoda fabia 1.4 mpi comfort yesterday only done 67000 miles and was under a grand so pretty chuffed with it. Got it home the batterys were gone in both sets of keys for the central locking so was having to use the ONE manuel lock on the drivers side. Whilst locking it got jammed half way, so with a bit of force got the key out then when i tried to unlock the lock it just kept spinning. So Locked out and the remote dosen't work. so me and my dad had to force the top of the drivers door and get the hook pop the boot and get in that way, but drivers door still wont open so cant lock it and have to climb over passenger seat to get in to drivers. Cant get the remotes to work, replaced the battery and still dont work. wounderd if any ones had the same problem and how much to get the door fixed?

Thanks

If the battery in the remotes have been flat for so long, then they need programming back to the car.. Which you do with the drivers door lock...

I had the spinning lock problem with the polo I had before my Fabia.

Luckily the doors didn't deadlock, so I could open the central locking and take out the lock barrel to sort it. Once you've managed to open the drivers door, it should be dead easy.

If you push and pull the lock pin on the passenger side, does it open the central locking?

No the drivers door is gone cant open it from the inside either.

If you press the unlock button on the door and pull up on the lock pin at the same time, does that do anything?

When u pull the lever from the inside the lock pin pops up with it. All the other doors are fine just the drivers. Not sure if i can programe the remote cos the door locks buggered. u think the deadlocks are on, on the drivers door.

Yeah, on the drivers door is the central locking unlock button?

Press that to unlock at the same time as pulling up on the lock pin.

the lock pin will come up when u pull the lever, so when u pull it up it feels like it dosen't want to come up. tried it with the central locking button didnt do anything. When i turned the key just half way in the ignition and heard a noise come from the door, sound locky and mechanical but no luck. Think the electrics might be a bit dodgy. Will a standard mechanic be able to fix it or will it be a dealer job?
