Next Step?

Featured Replies

The stage 1 remap has got me hooked, I really didn't want anything more, the idea to make it a Q car, so no external visual clues as to the performance. Already I can tell the handling needs sorting out, it gets a bit floaty when pushing on, so what are the recommended changes in sequence? I presume that the options include uprated springs & shocks, stiffer bushes, ARB, and a strut brace; but am in no position to do them all at once. Also despite my desire to keep the stock appearance, a Miltek exhaust is on my list of potential changes if only for the sound benefit, rather than any performance gain, it already goes fast enough for me now.

The order you have them in is good, although IMO I would not bother with a strut brace and use the money elsewhere. Q car.......I drive one of those at work :-)

Thanks. new shocks and springs will be first job then. Springs easy, Eibach I guess, but what about the dampers?

Why not stick with Eibach? Not the cheapest, but if bought together you'll save some money

Good point, though I guess Bilsteins would be the obvious choice.

I think it's really down to personal choice, previous experience, cost and what kind of driving you intend on doing

None

None (other than OE fit)

Value rather than price tag

normal road.

It's still a "family" car, so a teeth rattling ride and no road hump clearance is not what I want, just less float and a more planted feel. Have driven a 530d at the 155 limiter on an autobahn a couple of times, feels more stable than the Octy does at 110 ish. That's the first objective, the second is a bit more composure when cornering. Roll is fine, it helps with cornering speed perception, given that almost all electro-hydraulic PS set up are devoid of any real feel.
