Turbo or Vaccuum Unit

Featured Replies

Hi, apologies if this is in the wrong place, or going over old ground, there were too many pages to try and read through. I'm looking for a bit of help and advice, I have an 05 vRS that has blown through two turbos in as many months, but still doesnt seem to be right. I've read online that it can be due to the vaccuum unit but dont know quite how to narrow the problem down. She is not accelerating clean, stuttering when warm, sometimes surges when pulling away. It was remapped last year. The engine management light came on other day, took it to the garage and they came up with air meter fault, reset it and fault has not come back. I dont know if this is relevant but traction light comes on after 10 mins driving. Any help or advice much appreciated, am in Glasgow area.

Tcs light is the signal load wire that's broken from the alternator, have a search. As for the turbo, I'd get the map pulled off as it sounds like its over boosting the turbo and roasting it.

Cheers mattie, i'll have a look for that wire. The map was done around 9 months ago and seemed to be running fine, only got black smoke on hard accelerating. Before the first turbo went I got more black smoke but it'd appear that was from a burst pipe.

Who mapped it?

You have blown two Turbos in just a few months you have a big problem thats need to be sorted before you blow another.Tubos do not self destruct on there own unless poor owner/driver maintence or that map is terribly wrong.

Vcds, log channel 11 from 1500rpm to red line. This will tell you if it's over boosting.

Stock boost is 1.35bar (shown as 2350 on vcds)
