vRS - Caliper Colour

Featured Replies

Having my wheels refurbed tomorrow so it gives me a chance to spruce up the front calipers. They have lost their shiny red colour and look a lot paler than the rears. Any tips on making them look a little better? I appreciate a respray is probably answer but this is a short term effort!

how about a good clean up with some apc, then trying some polish on them (super resin), to see if that brings them back to life.

Good call, I've got some Auto Glym Super Resin Polish

ive just had another thought , i read a thread about a detail on an audi s3 , he used gtechnic sealant on it , he had a little bit left over and applied it to his calipers and it brought them up like new. why dont you get some gtechnic alloy wheel sealant for your refurbed wheels to keep them looking good and use a tiny bit on the calipers! heres the thread ive just found ithttp://www.detailing...d.php?p=2313069

heres the gtechnichttp://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wheels-and-tyres/gtechniq-c5-wheel-armour/prod_878.html and stop using strong alloy wheel cleaner thats probably whats made them dull!

Anyone in the Midlands with a kerbed wheel should use Dream Wheels. First class service and a job well done. The wheel below was a right state before today as we're the other 3.

Oh and also managed to clean and coat the 'pink' caliper back to a racing red with some Auto Glym Super Resin Polish

Looks great.

I've got some bashes on my neptunes that I need to fix, plus I also have the pink caliper issue. ;)

AG SRP will not last though with the heat, I give mine a rub CG Wheel Seal.. Works wonders.

Maybe consider Iron-X before doing anything to get the embedded brake dust out - it's good stuff! Perhaps a mild abrasive followed by a fresh coat of high-temp lacquer is also worth considering before going for the sealant.

Don't use a wax on wheels or calipers - any initial joy at the shine is soon lost when the brake dust clings to it like I-don't-know-what

Go Green

Don't! :giggle: At least not on a blue car

SRP does last, they look like new after and stay that way, ( as long as you always clean your calipers when you clean your car ) and green is the best colour no matter what your cars colour is

I'll keep them cleaned with SRP every time I wash the car.

You have Neptunes though I cannot get to mine without taking them off

Buy some S3 brakes, get 'em powder coated and sealed....... :p

Looks fantastic Pagey, shame mines a company car and has to be serviced at Skoda dealers only therefore they wouldn't be able to supply parts like pads and discs to replace

For all four? :o Just the faces or the complete wheel!!

Even for the face only, that's bloody brilliant, now I'm jealous!

All four, faces only. Better still he does them in the van outside the house.

Cheap deal as he often parks in the street for the school run!
