Remapping

Featured Replies

Im sure all of my questions have been answered elsewhere - apologies - I have a 2007 Octy Elegance Estate 1.9 pd with nearly 90k on the clock and have toyed with the idea of getting her remapped for ages - I live in Northern Ireland and have always heard good things about Autotune in Ballymena.

My question is

with 90k on the clock is it worth my while? - will i cause the clutch / flywheel or anything else to go pop first time out? Car has never had any issues - fully serviced as required and t belt etc done at 60k. The reason i havent got this done before now is that my mechanic (local VW independent) warned me that the clutch will 'wobble' with the extra torque and I 'will be back in a week for a flywheel'

My worry is that I will knacker a perfectly good motor

thanks

I had my Focus 1.8 TDCI remapped at about 100k (possibly a bit more, can't remember) and nothing went pop. I sold it at around 130k IIRC and it was still running really well. Neither my DMF or clutch failed with the extra torque (260 lb ft up from the factory 184 although mine ran 220 lb ft on their rollers before the map was added).

Thanks John - anyone with a 1.9 can comment?
