help after cam belt change!

Featured Replies

Hi,

i own a fabia vrs 06' with 86,000 on the clock.

I had the car re-mapped with a local guy at 72,000...

Very pleased with the results although if i was in 5th at 30mph and put my foot down the flywheel(i was told) started juddering.. the revs and speed were to low for the gear.

As long as i was in the right gear i didnt notice it.

Now ive just had the cam belt and water pump done at 85,000 miles..car running sweet as a nut.

Except..

I swear the car is slower now and it has lost its aggressive pull, so i decided to test something.

I decided to see if the cars flywheel would judder again as said previous.I put car in 5th foot down at 30mph...nothing,car gradually accelerated. so i tried in 6th,nothing.This in mind im baffled as im 98% sure for some reason after the belt change its slower.Theres also no slippage in the clucth(yet)

Can anyone shed any light on this matter for me plz.

Cheers in advance.

Ben.

Maybe the injection timing is slightly off?

sorry for the late reply,

ive also noticed that when i put my foot down i get a lil lag b4 the turbo kicks in, during this lag i hear a lot of air gushing or being sucked in im not sure. Is this a boost leak some where?could this be causing lack of power??

Belt could be one tooth out.

Belt could be one tooth out.

surely if the belt was out a tooth the car wouldnt run as sweet as she is. wouldnt the timing be off and it would run lumpy.. if it would run at all??

Could be a disturbed hose, but one tooth out can mean that the injection isn't quite right, so that you end up with lower power.

These are all just ideas for things it could be, but really, the best thing to do is talk to the garage that did the work and ask them to have a look at the pipes etc around where they were working.

I did a belt on a pd150 last week, 40,000 miles was the last change and the injection pump was 1tooth out, ran sweet apart from a minor mis fire when cold.
