Trouble fitting the CUPRA console bushes

Featured Replies

The car has gone into the garage today to have a service and have the console bushes swapped for the CUPRA ones, just had a call saying that they can't get them to fit...?

Any ideas what the issue could be? The bushes are genuine ones bought from SEAT.

There going to put the car back to 'as was' so I'm not going to mess about trying again, just wondered if anyone who'd done the job could make a guess at why they won't fit? He told me it was starting to strip the threads on the tool.

Cheers

Sounds like they may not have cleaned and grease the hole for the bush as i dont have a tool just push em in with a vice n ive never had any botha

Probably another garage not willing to put parts on that are for other cars. This says seat and its a skoda so therefore it's not going on. Too many of them about

I have fitted the cupra bushes and they are a swine to fit (2days) ! and the other week I fitted the powerflex ones (came in 2 parts) and they were brill and went in with no problems in a couple of hours. cheers - Stuart

The Powerflex bushes are twice the price but well worth money (when you weigh up time taken for fitting etc). As mentioned, they may have not cleaned up the console mounts and greased up correctly.

Also maybe providing some more info could help. Are they having trouble fitting the bushes to the consoles or the wishbones to the bushes? Personally me and Sparky (my dad) spent the best part of two days fitting the wishbones to the bushes but the units them selves weren't too hard to fit to the console.

I can't stress enough - buy the powerflex units, very good value for money!

They do fit, they're just not trying hard enough. but It's by no means an easy job.

I've posted in a few recent threads advocating Powerflex as being easy to fit, reasonably cheap and backed up by a full lifetime replacement warranty. I chose them even though a friend in the trade offered to lend me the Sealey tool on Saturday as long as I had it back on Monday, total job took about an hour including tools away and a cup of tea between sides.

The person who offered me the Sealey tool has done the job enough times on Fabia's and suggested that i'd be best off with the tool or it'd be a nightmare, when I showed him the two part Powerflex bush he was quite impressed with the design as was I when I fitted them so easily, no straps, special tools or messing about, they went straight in.

I have the Powerflex ones too. Brilliant they are. I first wanted the cuprs ones, but the bush was smaller than the "console" it goes into so my garage had problems getting them right. Don't think they were greased as they had to be cut out :-( Went in the bin and ordered Powerflex and never looked back

Thanks guys, car is back now and from what I can see the standard bushes that are in are fine for now. I'll work round the rest of the bushes by process of elimination to find the knocking.

Thanks again

If the console bushes look like that they're knackered, if it's not them the only other bush it's going to be on the front end is the ARB bush but I'd check the drop links first.
