Fab vRS Front End Clonking

Featured Replies

Hey guys (and gals) my Furby's been suffering with clonking from the front end (n/s) virtually since new. Numerous attempts by the dealer to find and cure have failed. Anyone had similar probs and know the cause? Symptoms are clonks at low speeds on bumpyish roads. Virtually cured itself during the cold winter months but has returned with a vengance now the warmer weather's here. Tried new strut top mounts and ARB links without success.

Car's going to Ross's dealership for the Master Tech to give it the once over soon - but if anyone knows what casues this noise I'd sooo like to know...

Mine too and mine is 6 weeks old

ARB droplink....

mine has had one replaced.

does the clonk come from a particular side of the car? if so, does it clonk if you say go over a speedbump with the other wheel? - if yes, its ARB related

if no... possibly a topmount.

Cheers Colin. By drop link do you mean the 'dog bone' link that connects the ARB to the McP strut?

Mine had the same problem, dealership sorted it out, my problem was a linkage as above. It's now sweet as a nut, not one noise from the suspension now.

Yes... if you take the wheel off you should be able to see if the bushes have split..

My Vrs has a similar sounding clunk, particularly on turning a corner at any speed. Could this be the same fault or is this something different

I had a clonking like this, and had to get a complete new ARB fitted. :( Cured it though. Now the only clonking I get is when the nose hits the floor if I misjudge a speedbump. :o Must learn to drive properly with this new suspension setup...

May be a shot in the dark, but do you guys have the same suspension set up as the MK4 Ibiza. I had the same noise and thought it was either the ARB bushes or the drop links. Took into the stealer and they changed all the lower suspension bushes - 3 on each arm. They

Have had the same problem, only in the cold weather by the time ive gone about 15 miles no clunk.....by the time ive driven to the dealers (16 miles) the noise is gone...dealer couldnt find anything wrong....roll on summer should be as quite as a mouse.

We have the same problem with the VRS i Sweden.

A friend of mine who works as a mecanic at Skoda have also a Fabia VRS with that problem.

I have the same noise on mine too.

He says that there is nothing to worry about.

The noise comes from the Mcperson.

I was from him I

With my car, I have this 'knock knock' sound coming out when I turn the wheel in stationery, and this was after I had it lowered. My dealers check it, said there was no problem. Had it for just a little over 2 years now. It's become music to my ears..'knock knock knock knock'...

ARB links are quite common so im told, modified ones in production to cure knocking noises (hopefully).

Yes you are right. I'm off to my dealer next week to get some modified links on order. The part No. by the way is: 6QO 411 315 G. Not sure how succesful it will be though - apparently this is the fifth modification to the drop links since the vRS was launched!

ye its only happend recently but we got a clunk! i dont kno wat its called but a big bit of black plastic under the engin had been cracked some how so when it goes over a bump it knocks and its really annoying!

Since the Fabia was launched, they all use the same links.
