Steel grey vRS

Featured Replies

Hi folks, don't know if this is common knowledge but there's a steel grey vRS about. Didn't think you could get one in that colour but Trust Skoda Stourbridge have an estate for sale. It's currently being advertised on autotrader. It looks nice and discreet, especially since its been debadged at the back, though what with it being various shades of grey inside and out, a bit too greyscale. Only the red brake calipers add a dash of colour.

Anyway, it seems nicely specced and a bargain with extras that include parking sensors, climate, headlamp wash and electric heated/FOLDING (allegedly) mirrors for a smidge under 15k.

If this is a one-off, it's a great chance for someone to pick up a "special edition"!

Mirrors don't fold electrically :) They are heated and electric moving though.

I fancied one when I ordered mine but was only available on the continent. I heard they released it in the UK though, bloody annoying! :)

That is a sexy looking car, be even better with black wheels!!

Cheers Ad Lav. I've downloaded the Fabia brochure and can't see it as a colour for the vRS. I wondered if Skoda were readying it as a special edition release, as they did with the mk1 vRS, when a one-off blue one with no seat numbering was released. Anyway, I can understand if Skoda haven't updated their brochure with new specs. They're notorious for it... and for having photos of cars in LHD - grrrr!

Nice,

but I like the Storm Grey one in page 7 of 'Official Briskoda Fabia II vRS Register.

Very Stealth to my thinking.

Yes, and it makes a change from the norm. One thing is, how could this dealer run one for 3,600 miles, and it not appear on the radar on this forum?!? C'mon guys, you're meant to be this forum's eyes and ears!!!

I'm from the south east so miles away from that dealer - that's my excuse!

I think it's the same colour as the one he found on page 7 just different light.

i do like that

The one on page 7 looks more like anthracite (probably called storm grey in columbia) which also looks great, but then I am biased; I've got an anthracite vRS myself, albeit an Octy!

That was my car.......

No great mystery, it was available to order (in Aug 2011) as a "new" colour.

Strangely,it only took 11 weeks to arrive in the middle of all the huge waiting time tales.

Sadly, I could not get on with the hard ride (worse than the hatch in my experience) or the DSG so it was time to move on.

I also had a few issues early on with the car (it was back with the dealer for a week after 1 1/2 days) so doubtless that affected my enjoyment.

Interesting - what faults/issues?

Must say I don;t know what's wrong with people moaning at the ride - it has 40 profile 17's, it's not going to be like driving on clouds...

What did you buy instead?

The initial fault according to Skoda Assistance was....."Brake light switch implausible signal". this rendered the car undriveable.

I subsequently had problems with the central locking which meant I could not unlock/lock the car . Pressing the fob did nothing as if the whole system was dead. The car had been with me for 5 weeks, in that time it was with the dealer for 7 1/2 days..

Having owned 3 Octavia vRS I love Skoda and will be the last person to critise the marque simply because I have moved on.

Ride quality is an individual thing I know but for me it was an issue on the vRS estate.

I currently drive a Mazda.

Odd how it wouldn't lock/unlock.

Did you refuse the car or return it for money?

Damn, it sounded like a tempting buy until you listed those faults. I'd almost convinced the wife to chop in her mk1 vRS SE for it until I read about your problems with the car.

That's not good that it didnt work out for you. Hope you're finding the Mazda more to your liking.

Shows how out of date the latest Fabia brochure is if you were able to order it back in August 2011 and it's still not showing as a colour for the vRS!

  • 1 year later...

also posted this about this colour on another thread but according to skoda uk the steel grey was discontinued on buildweek 37 sep 2013 and no longer available and i asked if another colour has replaced it and they said no

So my order that was already in uk in steel grey estate is the last new one in that colour unless a dealer has one still somewhere which is a shame as that colour is well smart.
