Could someone tell me what fitments I would need as Im ordering these off the internet and want the right fitment.

Also i want the tryes to sit out over the arches - What would be the right size of adapter to use?

Will upload pictures once Ive put the alloys on the car.

Also i want the tryes to sit out over the arches

I would be carefull about that on two counts.

Firstly, if the tyers sit out from the arches, it is possible that the tyre will sustain damage as the cars suspension goes up and down, making the tyre strike the wheel arch. This could result in severe damage and even a blowout to the tyre, no need to elaborate on that!

Secondly, it may actually be illegal as the wheel arch of the vehicle is designed to cover the wheel, at least, in part. (Vehicles without wings/built in arches have a fender of some kind bolted on for this purpose). Depending on the territories used, the constuction of vehicles regulations will come into play here and will almost certainly cover most, if not all, of Europe, due to harmonisation. To this, you may get pulled up by the fuzz (Ouch). Possibly also, you may fail your local testing standards certificate. (MOT in the UK). Rendering the vehicle unroadworthy. It may sound a small thing but I would look into it first, to see what will and wont be legal.

A good tyre/wheel supplier SHOULD advise you and even refuse to supply and fit something that would not be suitable or legal but there are many who would be happy just to tell you either verbally or in writing, on your bill, in order to cover their own liability. Others will simply take your cash and bank it, without giving a second thought. (These sorts of establishments are probably best avoided to start with)!

Dont want to put a downer on your project but at least take a little care and be safe, rather then sorry!

He said 8x17 so 17inch...

Go for the 8x17 5x100 ET35.

You will have no problems with those, maybe a 10mm spacer on the rear to get it sitting flush with the arch.

As you can see on my old car - I had BBS LM reps which were 7.5x17 5x100 ET35 and had a 20mm spacer on the rear. Looked pimp imo.

Even with vRS Spiders and 20mm rear spacers it sat perfect on the arch, no scrubbing or dangerous noises etc. Just try the wheels without spacers first :)

sorry i mis-read as 18's as you noticed.

george

If he were to go for 18's he'd need to use 215/35/18 tyres :)

So he would if he wanted to go plus 2%, which was why i was asking, incase he wanted 8" rims and wide and go to go Minus .6,

But as i said, i mis-read.

Gigaro alloy wheels would fit the Monte nicely.

What difference is there between 7 x 17 Black Trinity Alloys on a Monte & 7 x 17 Gigaro, other than a choice of 4 styles?

george

To me the Gigaro ones look sportier and more angular.

Point taken,

but I know what they each look like,

what i was getting at is when the Trinity Wheels on the Monte are black, more angular spokes are hardly noticable,

in fact i prefer the look of Black Trinity to Black Gigaro's,

but then thats just my taste, i have neither of those fitted though.

Thanks lads, think I'm going to leave the tyres over the arches seen a vw and it looked mint but to much work. Think I'll lower the car a stick a set of rotafourms on here maybe or something along them lines. What's the best springs to get? Will this fault my warranty changing the springs as skoda don't do lowering springs for the monte ?
