So much for Skoda touch up paint

Featured Replies

I had a long scratch on the bonnet so decided to touch it up with the paint i bought from dealer. Its supposed to be Flamenco Red Metallic but i think it doesn,t match the original colour at all.

Look at this photo i took of it and my seriously dodgy paintwork i did which i think now looks a mess and a miss match of colour. Its like having a speed bump on my bonnet now :giggle:

What do you all think?

What should i do about this mess?

Anyway i can cut all this back but i doubt T Cut will work i tried it on somewhere else and its not abrasive enough.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

How long did you shake it for? As it looks like colour not mixed thoroughly. That looks like it now needs wet sanding back to remove the ridge. That is defiantly a job for someone who knows what there doing. I'd be looking for a local specialist car detailer. What part of the country are you in? As that should helP people recommend you someone

Hi

I shook the bottle for about 3 mins.

I'm in Bournemouth on south coast. It really does look a mess. I don't think rubbing compound will do anything.

It needs wet sanding and machine polishing

Thanks Chris I will give that a go. It looks worse under the lighting at work than it does in the sunshine. Probally because no clear coat is on it yet. It's just a Matt looking colour at the moment.

Well at workshop tonight again and i used thinners and removed all excess paint and then rubbing compound starting with coarse then finished with G3 and kinda looks better but still needs work but the scratch isn,t so deep now and looks better.

A big improvement from the first photo.Need to take ChrisRS advice and use a machine polisher on it now.So off to get one in the week and see what happens.A more closer photo now of the scratch after

Looking at it still needs working on.looks worse under the workshop lights than out in the sunshine.

That a lot better when you fill it with paint use a proper paint brush not throne that is in the touch up you'll get a lot better control ofthe paint that way

The problem you have is that the paint is a matte finish, whereas your car has a glossy, clear coat finish. You can buy scratch repair kits online that have your colour wixed with clear coat so it looks better.
