Wheel Bearing Fail!

Featured Replies

Hi All - just throwing a feeler out here...

I bought a new Octavia 1.4tsi SE+ in September last year, but after 2700-2800 miles the drone from the rear has convinced me that a bearing has gone I'm afraid! Seems to whine more on right handed bends, so I'm sure that's what it is. Anyone else heard of similar? 3 of my last 4 cars have been Octavias and have hardly skipped a beat tbh, but this surprised me on such a new / low mileage car :(

Are you sure it's not tyre noise?

I get a lot of tyre noise with mine at the rear and it's definitely not the bearings.

Are your rear tyres wearing evenly over the full tread pattern?,you could have the octavia problem of incorrect wheel alignment which causes your tyres to wear incorrectly & make a noise like a wheel bearing sound. If they are fine then you could have a faulty wheel bearing,it should be covered by warranty at that mileage.

I just had my tracking done on a hunter system , the road noise is significantly better now , better get a look at the inside edges of your rear tyres mate.
