I've just bought an August '06 Fabia VRS in yellow, can anyone tell me about the spec of the car, it has diferent rear lights from my '02 car, so I'm assuming there was a facelift. Should it have Xenons, were the headlights diferent on later cars?

Xenons were an optional extra, but can be retro fitted (without the levelling I believe).

There was a facelift around 2005.

If it's an 06 it will have the BLT engine, and will definitely be a facelift.

There were many small changes to the vRS throughout its life, these are just off the top of my head:

Door handles might be colour coded, as these were brought in sometime in 2006.

Rear lights were face lifted late 04 IIRC

The door lock pins won't be on the rear doors as these were deleted 2005.

The material on the top of the dashboard will be more textured similar to non-slip matting - fitted sometime from 2004.

I need a headlight and looking on ebay a lot seem to be listed as '99 to '05, were the later ones diferent?

Late 2004 - my late September 2004 car didn't have the new texture.

Lots of other little changes - the front grille changed in September 2004, the rear FABIA badge changed sometime later, the battery area changed completely (possibly at BLT engine introduction in late 2005), the Yellow paint colour changed (would have to look up the date for that one), the engine badge changed from coloured to black, the "convenience wipe" function became turned off by default from early 2006(?), the mirror control switch lost its "combined" functionality in September 2004

That's ignoring previous changes such as the different vRS badge and different gearbox in the earliest cars.

Not sure there's any difference in the headlights though...

Grille is different as the angle of the slats changed from dead straight on to slightly angled.

Completely interchangeable though.

....WHY DO I KNOW THIS??

Here's the comparison - it's most obvious looking at the centre slat which being splayed two ways is much wider than the others.
