DPF Fault - Help - Anywhere do Forced regen ?

The DPF light has been coming on in my 2007 PD Vrs allot recently, normally a quick blast down the motorway clears it but last night the car went into limp mode, before I could get it there.

My local garage have confirmed the fault code is connected to the DPF being blocked but can't do the 'forced regen' themselves. The local Skoda dealer will charge £85 to re test the codes, and a minimum of 2 hours labour to do the regen, putting the cost above £250.

Now I might be being a cheap skate but surely there are others that can do this at a more reasonable cost ??

I’m in Chippenham, Wiltshire so if anyone knows of any decent, reputable garages with experience doing this then please let me know :)

You can force a regen via Vag Com if you know someone with it.

Before forcing a regeneration the normal recommendation is to double check whats going on, especially with a 2007 PPD-TDI like the BMN there are plenty of known causes around which (if taken care of properly) will not bother you anymore in the long run. So instead of clearing coding and doing the regeneration, spend the time/money on actual diagnostics to ensure everything is up to par. If you're able to post an Auto-Scan/Diagnostic Protocol from the car we might be able to provide some more detailed advice.

As above, the BMN is prone to a whole host of issues, just attempting a regen with a fault existing can drive the DPF's calculated soot levels above the limit where a safe regen is considered possible.

Carrying out a forced regen on a BMN even when there is no actual fault can be a long winded process, 2 hours sounds like a bargain to me.

Don't be unduly surprised if the Skoda dealer advises further time to carry out a diagnostic procedure & also a possible software update to deal with DPF regeneration issues on this model.

They are prone to issues regarding sensor & actuator failures, which, as stated by Sebastian if dealt with correctly will prevent the fault occurring again in a short space of time, or more expensively an irretrievably damaged DPF.

Ok cheers, Ive taken your advice and booked it in for the work this morning. I'll be keeping my fingers, toes and everything else crossed that it all goes ok.

I had to force a regen a few months back, all worked fine and no problems ever since....like you I

Clear the error code to remove limp mode and go for a drive with the laptop plugged in,,,you will see the DPF % start to decrease...glow plug comes on at 90%....DPF light will extinguish below 5%

The garage 'Turners Skoda' have called to say its all done.

The diagnostics flagged up a faulty sensor and after changing this and forcing the regen it's now back to normal.

All this for the reasonable cost of £185, a bargain if ever there was one.

Sounds reasonable. What you may want to check though is the ECM SW level, thats another common cause thats easy to take care of. ;)
