As above, whats the deal with doing both?

Is it a labour cost issue as in while the cambelt is being done its sensible to get the pump done aswell or does the belt operate alongside the pump so if it goes it will destroy the engine regardless if the belt has been changed?

Also iv heard there are metal & plastic water pumps?

Whats the best route guys, im lost on this if im honest!

The pump is about £25 quid extra in parts (exchange) and about another £20 of labour for changing the coolant.

No point in not putting in a new OEM one.

Cambelt runs the waterpump, so if your pump goes bang it will take the cambelt out with it and cost a fortune to repair (massive engine damage) so the normal thing to do is have the pump changed at the same time as the belt. Normally no extra labour charge just the extra for the pump and antifreeze. OE pumps run plastic impellors normally and none gen can run metal impellors. My advise is to have the cambelt kit and water pump fitted at the same time and remember to get the engine mounting bolts changed as these are classed as shear bolts and must always be replaced on a TFSI

You will need the engine mounting bolts changing at the same time as they have to be removed when doing the job, As for the price i wouldnt have thought they are expensive

New bolts added less than £10 to the job when I got it done.
