8.5x18 ET45 Fitment?

Featured Replies

I'm looking at a set of wheel's for my pre FL vRS, they are 18x8.5 ET45, My car has H&R cup kit suspension, currently on 35mm springs with 18'' Zeniths and H&R 15mm spacers on rear/no spacers at front

My springs are soon to be replaced with 45/50mm springs,

Anybody know if I'll have any rubbing/clearance issues with this setup?

Was planning on using my 225/40/18 tyres off my Zeniths, this ok?

I've checked on the wheel offset calculator and it says there will be an extra 4mm on outer edge compared to the current wheel with 15mm spacer,

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Very similar spec to the vrm's that oobster had (8.5 wide and et45) and he had no issues even running low on weitec coils but that was without the spacers.

I suspect you'll need to ditch the spacers tbh.

Thanks, yea won't be using the spacers, the offset on the wheels will be enough, just hope there not out too far to catch the arches....

You will be fine with ET45 and 8.5 width. I am on AP coilovers wound right down with 19x8.5 and 235 tyres and I get no rubbing. Even when 5 up.

Come on now Rob, I've seen you, there is no way even with you in the car, you don't get rubbing? :giggle:

Just bumping this back up, I've now fitted the H&R 45/50mm springs to the vRS,

I'm getting the 18x8.5 ET45 wheels on monday and want to order tyres for them asap,

-Will I be ok with 235/40/18 or should I go for 225/40/18?

-I know some of you have said you run 235's with that offset but is that 235/35 or 235/40?

Thanks

235/40 will be find on that width wheel, I wouldn't go to a 35 profile though!

Make sure you post some pictures whdn it's all done. The ride height quoted for the H&R springs, is that -45/50 from standard height or vRS height?

  • Author

Thats from standard height afaik,

The car is probably -35mm from stock now, perfect height imo!

I have -30mm PI springs, which are produced by H&R, and they sit just about perfect. I will be getting AP coil overs on the new whip though. ;o)
