Air vents

Featured Replies

Hi all with the weather getting warmer I have just noticed that the center air vents are not working no matter what buttons I push the side ones work fine but had also notice that it seems to always be on to the feet is this normal?

Car is a Estate SE

Funny that, I also posted that a few months back.

It's only when you appear to press the directional air con buttons thus disabling auto mode that they start pumping out hot or cold air at a noticeable rate, this is different to any other car I have owned and there are have been quite a few of them.

I have just put it down to being a Skoda quirk, if I need a blast of cold air and auto isn't doing the trick I just press one of the -> air con buttons to blast cool air and increase the air flow button.

I always have the aircon on but only had it on cold today and noticed that even at 18c its not that cold and no air coming from the middle I did push the button for face and still nothing

Is that the same as yours?

No, but then again I have an S spec with manual aircon.

Turn the direction dial to face and air from all four dash vents

Yep, exactly the same as mine, even with vents fully open. If you turn on the directional air con i.e. the 3 buttons, one points towards your body one points downwards and the other one up and set the air con to full speed and it will start blowing out.

I also noticed on 18 it's not that cold compared to other cars, even when down at min.

I've learned to live with it as a feature

On mine, when the climatronic is on auto, the center vents are on when I set a low temperature (lower than ambient) and off when higher.

I must have a problem then

  • 9 months later...

tris, did you have this sorted out? If so, do you know what was the problem?

Mine is acting the same as you describe.

I did yes

Took it to Skoda and the vents had been blocked somehow by the wires for the taxi meter and had broke don't know how but they sorted it after them having it for 2days

  • 2 weeks later...

I fixed mine: removed the radio, pulled out the outer vent assembly, and after looking for about 20 minutes (with a torch!), found a wire blocking the (left side) mechanism. Note that there are moving parts on both sides - at first I only saw the right side.

As I suspected, the offending wire was part of a tracking device installed a couple of weeks ago by a "pro"...

Sorry, but I didn't have the presence of mind to take a couple of pics.

you go to a "pro" and they still muck it up

Anyhow - thanks for the info, tris - it made the difference between semi-panic and cool-headed troubleshooting :-)
