Dealer trying to tempt me to a new vrs

Featured Replies

Hi the forum, My local dealer has been trying for 2 weeks to call me , without any success!! As I work near the dealership & was finishing early yesterday, I called in to see

what all the fuss was about.

I am due to finish my finace in October, he informs me that for around the same payment, he can put me in a brand spanker Octavia vrs diesel, with 3 years free servicing on solutions.

He is already asking me if I can go to £270 a month, an increase of £36 on my current payment!! I owe £4200 ish on the car at mo, & am due to finish with ballon payment of £3200

in October.

My car has 58000 on the clock, & only has cosmetic issues, they have got me thinking, but I don't know, there's a new car coming out in November, from a concept, featured in Sun motors Friday just gone, looks quite smart, if they make it look like that!!

Depends if you would rather pay off the car and own it outright,or take on another finance and start over again with an increase in payment.what was you planning on doing when you had paid for the car.

Well, I was thinking of a complete change, even though I am a fan of Octavias, I had a 1.6 GLXi on a 99 plate from brand new, & kept it 10 years, then got my current vrs in June 09.

I was thinking of a Jaguar XF on an 08 or 09 plate.

Then I saw the new model in the Sun Friday, based on the concept car Mission L, think it's going to be called Rapid in Europe, it is to be released in November this year, it's a saloon in between the Fabia & Octaivia size wise,

the pic in the Sun looked awesome!! But, it is unusual for the production model, to mirror the concept, so it could look different to the pic i've seen, I liked what I saw!!

I wasn't expecting to be offered a new octavia vrs with free servicing, it has got me thinking, I do like the face lift model, & I could go to a higher payment if I have to!!

They also have a diesel estate vrs dsg in race blue on a 61 plate with 5000 miles on the clock, the sales guy's ex company car & demonstrator, it's up for £18895.

It would offer me a change, being dsg with flappy paddles, & better fuel consumption being diesel.

Or I could have a brand new one, but what level of equipment do I order, & what will that do to the monthly payment?

As it stands now, I have got to tax mine at the end of the month, £250 for 12mths £137.50 for 6 mths, all that's wrong with it is, multiple stone chips bonnet down to metal, stone chips all along o/s few scratches,

& a small dent they won't pull out on o/s rear wheel arch, alloys could do with replacement. Baker 21 told me mine had been pranged when he detailed the car in 09, o/s rear wheel arch to rear o/s bumper, under lighting, revealed new panels & paint & new wheel.

I don't know what to do really, I have an appointment with them 2pm Tuesday!!

It maybe worth doing,i think the estate looks cool, and they are like 20k+ for dsg diesel,so if the ex company car may have a few extras also.If you was planning on changing at the end of the finance then its worth considering i say, that's if you want to go for another octy and how long it will take you to pay it off.

I'm considering px on mine as the dealer contacted me asking if i want to have the newest model, but i'm kinda pondering if i actually want another octy.funny enough i was looking at the Jag XF also.

You can get a spanking new vRS diesel estate in metallic for £19020 from drive the deal, so you need to be getting more money off that used one if that's what you want!

Push him hard for a deal on the used one is what I'd say.

I got my dealer to match the drive the deal price plus he threw in a few extras. I will pay £19,100 for a petrol DSG estate with privacy glass, alcantara, rear parking sensors, auto lighting, xenons and a spare wheel.

The price for the nearly new one isn't that great.

the mission L is not the new octavia, it's the car that will sit in the line up between the fabia and the octavia, (fabia saloon) as phsroberts said the sales man is having a laugh at that price for a ex demo car. skoda are still doing the 20% off on most models

In fact the mission L is a new breed but there is a new octy out modeled off the Audi A6 next year which is bigger and better and should come with high end spec that you only see in high line I think

I bought an identical car a few days ago... 61 plate, ex-demo, vrs dsg estate, race blue, 5k. Paid £17.5k.

edit: optionswise - spare, PDC front & rear, MFSW.

Very nice ; )

What sort of deposit are they asking you to put down on a brand new one?

They are silly price for a soon to be obsolete model, it is 8 years old now . the new ones will have massive depreciation when the new models do come out .I would not pay a penny more than £17,500 for a " new " vRS Octy Hatch or Estate

That tax sounds about right - remember first years tax is always higher than all the subsequent ones.

Well he showed me figures on 4 cars, 2 brand new, one 2 months old, one 6 months old, I rejected all of them!!

They're doing deals on Superbs at mo, he is now trying to find me one to match my figures, I don't think he stands a chance!!

Like I told him, he wants to sell me another car, I don't need to buy one!!

I've just ordered a new vRS DSG diesel hatch in race blue for £17,950 including metallic paint (dealer beat drive-the-deal slightly) , a lot of car for the money in my opinion.

They must still be selling well. 3 weeks since ordering mine and not heard a peep as to a delivery date or even a build date!

The dealer did say 10-12 weeks though.

Very good price, did you get any options with that? Even at standard car spec that £18k is brilliant for a DSG TDI with Met Paint!

Ps. I love it when people say "a lot of car for the money!" My mate who is a copper and drives Skodas as part of his job always says this about them!

No, didn't choose any options, the optional extras really bump the price up.

1st semptember here were come :-)

Got the spec in my sig for £18200. Dealer beat drive the deal. NOT DSG like most in this topic though

Just thought I'd update,

Yesterday I began the process of getting a new motor, I have gone for a normal Octavia, sacrificing 95 horses!!

I've put a grand down to secure a vehicle yesterday, It's an Octavia SE Plus 1.6 Tdi with 7 speed Dsg box 105 Bhp (118 mph) in Satin Grey metallic!!

Didn't choose the colour, new builds are taking their time to be done, I was quoted up to 6 months!! This one has just arrived in the country, & any dealership could nab it,

it has satnav (sadly not the columbus), cruise, parking sensors, & bluetooth telephone equipment, dealer thinks he will have it ready for me in June!!

Got it on Solutions, for 3 years, so when the contract ends, the Octavia 3 & new Rapid should be well established, & I may consider a change, or pay it off & keep it!!

Finishing the process Wednesday morning!!
