Calling any owners with sports suspension fitted

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have ordered (from a dealer several counties away from me) an ex-demo 2.0PD DSG Octavia with the Pegasus sports suspension fitted.

I did test drive a car with this set-up, but it was a while ago. Reading comments in the forums here, I am beginning to a worry a little that in real world (inc. long distance) driving the set-up could be too firm and harsh.

So if you're running this set-up yourself I would be interest to hear how you're getting on with it.

Thanks.

Peagsus is a type of suspension I've not heard of before in the UK. Do you know of any similar kits here that are more common? Are they a coilover system, or just new springs? :)

Hi,

Sorry, probably confusing the issue here; 'Pegasus' is the name of the 17" alloy wheel. The sports supension I refer to is on the regular Octavia UK options list (cir.

...and the only difference in the suspension as far as I am aware is that it is 'stiffened', not lowered.

Probably means its a harsher ride then, BUT if its a Skoda option then its probably well matched to the Skoda dampers, so like my old eibach damper, eibach prokit springs (stiffer & lower) I barely noticed any harsher ride as the pair were well matched toegther.

I have had no ill effects from going long distance in mine, but then i like a firm ride! IMHO the 17's look alot better than the standard alloys

17"looks better indeed, the sport suspension is really fun and not unfomfertable. It gives you good control of the car!

Got the 17"alloys with sports suspension on mine and would'nt have it any other way.Great road holding for small outlay on price of car.

Sport suspension is FUN :-)

Sounds like I should be happy, you guys all seem pretty content, thanks for the comments.

I've got the 17" alloys on mine with sports suspension and it's great!

I've found of late travelling long distances to be tiring / stiffening...since I gave up the baccy I've found it even worse. So now I just stop more frequently, the 250 mile journey before maybe 1 stop, I now do 3 and feel much better at the end than ever before.

Maybe thats the redbull though...umm you'll be fine I think. I doubt it's that much more over normal, but enough to be noticed. You may if say you change wheels to a much lower profile notice it more. SWMBO noticed my change from 16" to 17" wheels, but not OEM suspension to Coilovers till I hit a bend :D

ps for both she thought it was better, excpet the coilovers in Ireland on track settings, oops.

As a skoda dealer who occasionally runs a 2.0 elegance full leather estate with the sports suspension kit, I can honestly say that the ride, despite being a little firmer, is not hampered in any significant way, the cornering is definitely improved, but long distances are eaten up without a chiropractor in sight!! Hope this helps!

but then i like a firm ride!

Me too. :o:rofl:

Thanks for the reasurance, seems like any trade-off on ride is well compensated in the handling department. Great.

You Won't be disappointed, Besides the great looks of the 17" wheels, the suspension is not too harsh. It rides well over potholes and speed bumps and makes the car great fun on snaking A roads. :)

Lifelong172 what colour is the Estate you use, I'm trying to pick a colour at the moment Silver or Titanium with black leather and 17" wheels, can't decide

If it's either of these could you post a pic please
