Featured Replies

hi guys wondering if you can help me out just had the engine speed sensor replaced and this was cost break down

removed and replaced faulty/broken engine speed sensor labout 49.00+vat

engine speed sensor 91.38+vat

net subtotall 140.38

vat at 20%

sub total 168.46

have i been ripped off here

you could have fitted yourself as its not a very difficult job

If it's on top of the gearbox as I'd expect then it's a 15 min job.

Just had one done on the Felicia they charged me £49 for the part and half an hours labour.

does anyone have a link to how much the part should actually cost as i have a feeling i got ripped off on that and the fsct it took them about 30 mins to fit and then got charged an hrs labour for 30 mins work

Ring up your nearest Skoda garage give them your reg and describe the part and they should give you a price for it (assuming it wasn't your local Skoda dealer that did the work :) )

no it wasnt a delaer that did the work but an independant vag specialist called vass specialists i also managed to fing the part and how much it should cost

http://www.eurocarparts.com/search/494440420/p/home

with 25% briski member discount the part should have been 44.05 inc vat so to be charged almost 120 pound for the part i was ripped off severely

That's the retail price for a genuine VAG speed sensor from a dealer.

The sensor on top of the gearbox is the roadspeed sensor not the engine speed sensor. The engine speed sensor is located next to the camshaft sprocket.
