How to run speaker cable to door?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Looking to run a few cables to the front door for the speakers but the rubber tube bit at one end covers loads of connectors.

Is it possible to remove these connectors and have them loose to leave enought room for two more cables. Will it cause any issues?

Thanks.

Have a look about for info on Fabia, Polo, Ibiza, as they're all broadly similar. One site to check is talkaudio.

I've seen a thread about a 6N Polo where the guy drilled both the connector and plug to run his wiring through into the door.

I guess I should have a look at mine since I had mine professionally installed and haven't looked to see how they did it since 2005 - LOL.

You don't need to drill anything. You can squeeze your new wiring down the side of the connector, be patient it fits.

Just had a look and cant see any space for speaker cable.

Have found that the blue connector is for speakers so plan to take it out. Cant work out how to get the female bit out however.

Any ideas?

Presumably you have to "dismount" the internal connector, in the cabin, then feed the wires alongside the loom in the outer connector/weather seal.

This is a bit of a guess... :) (I assume there's a weather seal/connector on the outer skin, but in the foot panel on the inner skin there's a wiring block...

It will fit down between the plastic connector and the metal of the door, you don't need to remove anything, just the rubber tubing to see what you're doing.

Do the passengers side first, the drivers side is tricky because you can't see what you're doing cabin side, you've just got to shove your hands up there and hope for the best!

Listen to Tim, hes been there and got the cuts to prove. :) lol
