hello, my names ben........

.........and i am an acceler-holic :o

i thought that having the car played with at jabba would quench my thirst, stave my hunger for more power but no, instead it has only wetted my appetite for power. :o

looks like i am going to have to save up and go for the big stuff.

if i wanted something like the JBS big turbo what other things would need doing aswell as gearbox? i already have an uprated clutch but would this fit a different gearbox? would i need to uprate drive shafts and other joints aswell as my brakes?

bengie, have you read that "mods worth doing" thread? IIRC there was some stuff in there about big turbos for the nutters out there :D

must admit, havent read it since the re-jig of the site but really want a big turbo. must have more power!! gotta save a couple quid though as will need lots more

and of sourse more equals big money :S

For a big (BIG) turbo and new gearbox/clutch conversion (with all the trimmings) you will probably be looking at around

Alternatively if money is not an issue then surely you would be better to sell your 4x4 and buy a proper RS to start from :D

:D

Dave, are you in a position to disclose your engine output (publicly or privately)?

sell your 4x4 and buy a proper RS to start from :D

do you mean a focus

what with the octavia vRS only being a tarted up octavia 20v Turbo

the 10K you mentioned, what exactly is that for. must admit i didn't expect that much for the turbo conversion, gearbox and some better internals or is there more to it that i don't know?

Lee - not at the moment i'm afraid! Almost but have a few niggles to sort out first

Bengie - Nothing more to it that you don't know! It's just expensive! Of course that doesn't cover things like an exhaust, decent suspension, brakes, seats, tyre choices, insurance etc. You could have an off the shelf kit (which admitedly a lot of people do prefer) which might save you a grand or so but make no mistake, the big stuff will bust your wallet right open!

i already have the suspension (V2) but not the brakes and had forgotten them :o

i was planning on getting a blue flame kit for the car but i might leave it as is and start saving for the big stuff, surely it shouldn't be much different price wise to what i have been quoted for my car as is(about

Dave, compilcation here is the haldex...not only will the tranny need doing up front, but the rear box and haldex coupling...so add another 2-3k onto that I reckon.

Personally if I were looking, and I did, very hard. I would not tune the Octavia 4x4 beyond 260/70. Instead I'd jump to the S3 and equivilents which use far stronger couplings than the 2 spline octy. Part of the reason I sold my 4x4 was I didn't trust it for "large" power. Some I know will disgree, but after talking to mike at Jabba 3 years ago about them it was clear, much more beyond a kkk turbo and your into a lot of unkowns, which of course means it's possible, but factor many more pennies before you start, cause once you pop you can't stop. Oh the seats were the worst part for me of the 4x4...could never stay in them during hard cornering.

so the haldex on the 4x4 is not the same haldex as on the R32, S3 etc then??

tbh i always assumed it was but not having looked into it didn't actually know for sure

You're going to have to change the exhaust system...big turbo kits require 3'' dp.

If you want to use full potential of turbo then internals, plus stronger 'box....

You're looking at least at

thinki'll forget the exhaust and start saving then.

thanks for the advice people's

now i must go away and start saving. NEED MORE POWER!!
