Hot / burning rubber smell

Hi all, I've had a bit of a search and turned up a few threads:

For whatever reason this has started happening to my car too (05 Octy VRS). After a bit of fairly enthusiastic driving I get a smell of very hot rubber coming from the rear passenger side wheel arch. Bizarrely this only seems to happen when it's warmer outside, when the temperature below 5 or 6 degrees (indicated on dash) I don't get the smell, regardless of how hard I push the car.

I've had a dealer take a quick look but they couldn't find anything obviously wrong. From the other threads it seems that no-one else has had a satisfactory resolution to this either.

Has anyone had an update?

TIA

It's normal. Usually when it's very hot outside this 'feature' of skoda cars comes to work. Don't freak out about it, I've had that smell goin' (if it's been a while since I've floored my ride) for two years.

this happens on my dads vrs estate also. 53 reg. i kept thinking it was me but my mum noticed it last time she was in the car with me while driving hard up a dual carrigeway going uphill 3rd gear. i think mine comes from inside the car and it really does stink! will have to write this down for when it goes in for its next service!

I think its the exhaust back box, touch the tail pipe after a run , concerned me for a while but don't worry about it now.

Heh! I like my fingertips thanks :)

Had a word with customer services at Skoda UK and got some dizzy girl asking me if the car had the proper levels of oil and whether the brake pads were worn... After I told her it was an 05 registered car *sigh* If the car has gone through an entire engine full of oil and a set of brake pads in a month you can have the bloody car back love! :D

Anyway, they've never heard of this before, just told me to keep an eye on it and take it back to a dealer if it gets worse.

I can smell burning rubber when the wife's shouting ooooooooooooooo, faster ooooooooooooooooo,faster.......sorry wrong thred....... Should be in The Roadside Hotel.......Room 69 :rofl:
