REAR LIGHT FITTINGS- SUPERB HATCH

Featured Replies

I have a Superb hatch, new in March 2012. Following the removal of rear lights for towbar fittings, one of the plastic caps on the light fitting (which need to be removed every time a bulb is changed to expose the fixing screws) has disappeared. It was there when i collected car as i checked so feel i should just replace it myself. Call to my dealer this morning and the part is over £4. It is only a plastic cap about size of 10p piece.

Has anyone else had to replace these caps, and if so did they pay £4 or has my dealer 'got it wrong'? It beggars belief that a cap which lugs seem to easily break when removed and need to be removed to even replace a bulb should be so incredibly expensive.

Any comments would be great.

I think they come as a multi pack, so not possible to buy a single one.

You're right. Here in NL the official price of these caps is EUR 5.17 incl. VAT for a set of 4. That is not cheap...

I have now purchased two cover caps for the rear light. Each cover cap must be removed to get the light out if a bulb goes, and they are very prone to breaking.

Each cover cost me £5.05 inc vat.

I asked the dealer to check more than once on this price and i can't quite believe the cost, particularly for a part which is likely to break everytime a bulb has to be changed.

I would love to hear from any dealers who read this forum to advise if this is correct. Responses above suggest they may be in pack of 4.

Hi I know this goes back a year but did anyone manage to get any of these caps, been to Skoda today and asked if they have them they told me that they can order them and are £5.45 each, I said don't you mean for a pack of 4, he said its only indicating as singular on the computer, I laughed at him and said ye right don't bother and walked, anyone had any success in getting hold of these at a realistic price, cheers.

Just seen your comments so its does seem to be that skoda dealers are charging a ridiculous amount for each cap.

Skoda set the prices dealers charge.

Dosen't mean that the dealers have to charge that though. Iknow I know that they are monitored by Skoda UK and all that and that they have to make a profit but it would be interesting to know the mark up by Skoda UK on some cheap parts though. Would it not?

I've two of these black lugs on my estate. They kept dropping out everytime I opened the boot. Tried sticking them in but still kept falling out, so left them out and put them away safe till I can find another way to make them stay without permanently sticking them in place. Bloody nuisance really.

What do they do, just cover the bolt?

If so, aesthetics aside, can't you just leave them off?
