New Octavia vRS Owner

Featured Replies

Hi,

My name is David and ive just bought:

Octavia vRS FSI, 2009 Limited Edition

Feels a bit like an alcoholics anonymous meeting....vRS anonymous...Ive succomb to the temptations of the vRS

Anyway, I had previously owned a BMW 520d SE E60 for a year, and an 02 Fabia 1.9TDI before that. The BMW had high mileage and I got burnt for a new Turbo (recon) and a heavy depreciation in that year, as well as diminishing performance and massive turbo lag.

So thats why i'm back with Skoda after driving my Fabia for 7 years, and being amazingly impressed and I still own it (wife drives it). That Fabia has been all accross Europe and over 140mph (on speedo) downhill on the autobahn...as well as getting me from Manchester to Winchester in 2hrs10mins on several occasions

Just hope my new Octavia lives up to the old Fabia's high standards.

Went for the Limited Edition model rather than a facelifted one, just cos it had so much kit inside and was alot cheaper, although it may look a little outdated at the front.

Its got 20k miles on the clock, and bought from franchise dealer...anything I should look out for maintainance wise to keep it running fast and smooth?

Cheers

David

Good car, good engine.

Keep an eye out for problems with coil packs ... they are mainly the weakspot on the 1.8T cars, rather than your 2.0 TFSI ... but my sister in law has your engine and she is on her 3rd set of coil packs, on a 2006 car (Audi A4 in that case).

If you haven't picked the car up yet, before you do, get the dealer to check that it has the upgraded coils as part of the Skoda 'bulletin' (recall), and if not you want them replaced before you drive off. Just google coil pack recall ; there's tons of info on it on this forum.

Oh and WELCOME!
