Plasti-dip FTW!

Featured Replies

Plasti-dipped my grille yesterday, left it in place, masked off a thick edge around the bonnet to allow "peeling off" as per Fonzie on dipyourcar.com and worked a treat. Excess peeled off, as did the layer over the badge.

Ok, it's matt black on a metallic car but looks way better than the expanse of chrome. Tempted to try the "glossifier".

Have you found where to get the glossifier in an aerosol?? :)

looks good, where did you buy your plasti dip from?

Interesting.

Wow, nice work, well done!

Does look good.

Looks very good and I bet it was easier than vinyl wrapping it?

Sweet stuff, I've been eyeing up this plastidip for ages.

Glossifier would look good, it would make it a better match.

Also would like to know where you got it

Where did you get it and how does this stuff work?

Plastidip UK website has a really poor range of the more special sprays eg. Glossifier or metalizer .. But they seem to be the sole distributor... I saw the metalizer over the black on some wheels on YouTube... Looked good. Liking your grill too.. ;)

Search YouTube for plasti-dip, loads of tips from dipyourcar.com

The good bit is it peels off if you feck it up (or get bored). Dipyourcar spray the whole car them just peel off the windows, lights, etc!

Bought mine from plastidip.co.uk, I assumed they had the glossifier but looks like they don't.

Looking at the picture, I would leave it as matt black as it adds to the look of the car, a little bit of a sinister look.

So you just spray it on the car, leave it to dry, and then if you've ****** up it peels off?

Does it not come off quite easily with stone chips etc?

Did you take the grille of the car before you did it?

Where do you buy the stuff from in the UK?

Sorry for the questions :D

That looks mint. I now know that I can get my grille black without having to order a new one.

The answers to all these questions are already in the posts above apart from stonechips...time will tell but it's a pretty tough coating (plastic / rubber). From the US reviews etc on youtube looks pretty resilient.

Iv not read all this post my apologise, if my question has been answered.

Considering doing my grill with plastidip and glossifier, but was worried about the finish when compared to having it sprayed??

Yours does look really well :)

Thanks

Dipyourcar.com will answer all the questions... Seeing the demos is much more helpful than descriptions of how it works etc.. :)

Masked off the inner bit but left an edge exposed. Was a bit of a PITA to peel the little bits off. Next time (if sticking with matt) I would put cardboard behind and do the lot.

I think the Smoke would look great on an Octavia vRS with standard chrome grill.

Yup, the initial coat of matt had that effect and it did look good.

Cheers, would probably do the lot on black but umming over the white so would probably take the grille off for that
