Dsg very jumpy

Featured Replies

Had my octavia back and they have reset the dsg box but its seems worse now very jumpy 1 and 2 when you brake you you can feel the box clunk back down to 1 st and 2 nd it does not creep forward in drive it jumps i was in a que of traffic on a slight incline and it kept rollin back when in drive can any one help or is this normal i thought this box should be smooth

Thanks

It will roll back when in D if you're on a steep uphill but will creep just like a normal auto if you're on the level or downhill gradient. As for the clunky / jumpy 1st and 2nd that's not normal, at least not from my experience anyway.

Forgot to say this only starts to happen when the engine temp is up

They probably never did the prescribed test drive afterwards. It should go away after a couple of hundred miles. If it doesn't then take it back to whoever did the reset as they may not have done it properly.

Ok thanks i am going to great yarmouth next week 400 mile round trip i will see how it goes, my wife is now gettin a bit on edge because at a junction it kangaroos for a few seonds untill it gets into 3rd you have to leave a large gap between traffic, to make sure you get accross in time, wish i had got a manual now

Who reset the DSG and what year is the car?

Its an 08 plate with 8200 miles on the clock it was re set in cannock

Mine had very similer symptoms as your but was the 7 speed box. It was off the road for a week while a new clutch pack was fitted. It sorted it and brought it back like new.

They tried a reset on mine too which did sort it for 3 weeks but the fault returned.

Mine did this for ages. Lots of software resets, a new clutch pack and a new mechatronic unit. It still misbehaved occasionally. I gave up in the end and sold it.

Went back to a manual as I lost faith in the DSG. I was worried about a huge bill once the warranty expired.

i had this on a 2008 audi TT dsg, the dealer ended up replacing the ecu inside the box, all sorted and fault never reoccured.

Thanks all booked in at main dealer on wed they did say could be the mechatronic unit what ever that is sounds expensive i still have a few months left on the warranty so fingers crossed,

At best the DSG box is a bit agricultural and far from the industry best......It does tend to `lurch` if you are trying to manoevering with it ie back it into the garage, and rolls back alarmingly if on a slight incline, say at traffic lights. At work I drive, shall we say very large Ford automatics made in Australia which are streets ahead of the VAG offering. They really need to do better..
