Hi all, was a member on here back in 2007 when i owned a yellow 2002 Octavia vRS....sadly i only had the car for around 3 months as shortly after buying it my company van got swapped for a car, and as i had to pay company car tax on it each month i had no need for a second car (the van was free as long as i didnt do any private mileage).

I may be starting a new job soon, which means i will have to get my own car, and after looking at a few options (Mondeo ST tdci, Focus ST170, Saab 9-3 Aero, Seat Leon Cupra R) i've decided that if i do get the job i will get another mk1 Octavia vRS....seen plently of 2004/2005 models with low mileage & FSH that fall well inside my budget of £5,000.

What are the running costs like, tyres, brake pads, oil etc & what MPG can i expect from it on a run of A-roads & dual carriageways?

What should i look for when viewing, both physically on the car & the service history etc?

Welcome back to the fold. :) I recommend that you repost your queries in the Octavia I forum.

Welcome back . I had an octy vrs mk1 and i would get low 30s around town and upto 40s on a run.

Is it that size car you need ? Mk1 fabia vrs are a pd tdi and i get mid 40s around town and upto mid to late 50s on a run.

If it is a larger car you need the mk2 octy vrs tdis are available if you look. Ive seen a few advertised between 4500 and 5000.

Hope this helps.
